Watering occurs as needed

-Type and strength of ferts used?
I am currently using everything on and according to the Fox Farm Soil Feeding Schedule, with the exception of "Kangaroots", which was added to the list after I had already ordered everything.
As for strength; I have been kind of "winging" it with the ratios of nutes to water. I will spell out each feeding in the daily posts so you can see how I broke it down. This WHOLE grow will pretty much be a trial and error experience for me. (AGAIN)

Looking good Raiven! Curious if that little fan keeps it cool enough for you?

Well that small fan right now is just basically an intake to supply fresh air constantly ... its not pushing much but so far the plants in this small chamber seem to like it ...

i would like to get a second independent fan in there for circulation as well...

Hey man, looking good so far. Looks like we started around the same time. I will be following yours. We got soooo long to go. Anys, keep at it!

Hey Budsyez! Thanks for stopping by the journal!
This is my second grow and Im only half way through my first grow...
Learning so much from everyone on here...Its a great place to be!!
:420:

Im about to go check out your grow and follow along myself!!

:peace:
:blunt:

Yes, I just read your first grow after i posted that and thought whoops hes no newbie like me haha. However reading your first journal I learned so much from it (the day by day documentation..that's dedication), im glad your still at it. and cant wait to see the results of the first grow:thumb:

hahahaha but i AM noob still LOL

Im really happy you liked the other journal as well AND learned from it!!
I was concerned at how long my input on here would take to help someone else as much as I have been helped so far ...
Day by day has been tougher lately with craziness going on in my two companies as they are growing just as fast as my girls hahahaha
But I will strive forward and try to keep as complete a journal / journey as I can manage!!

Im with you there waiting in anticipation of the first grow :blunt:

Day 10
Seed. Day 1

***HOTT UPDATES ON THE SECOND GROW***

The new girls are in soil finally!!

I used the new mix courtesy of KJC :thanks:
I will also be incorporating some new organic ingredients when it comes time to transplant into larger pots...Thank you to PeeJay!!!!

Planted the cubes in the mix except for the Cr+

The Cr+ has not rooted thru or popped up yet...
Under further examination I opened the cube up and found that the root was facing up and hadnt grown any yet...
I spilt the cube and took the seed and put the seed directly into the soil mix...Hopefully that will help and it will continue to grow...

The 2 THC Bomb Autos have exploded up into the air almost right from the start...

And the Fruity Chronic Juice is hot on their heels...

The new mix as of now consists of ProMix HP, Earth Juice - Rooters Mycorrhizae and vermiculite...
I only mixed up enough to fill the four cups...
Placed the girls inside and watered them down till I got some runoff

Placed them all back into the seedling chamber for some 18/6 light and to soak up that humidity...

See pics below and lemme know what everyone thinks!!

:thanks:

I dug down a bit and found it to have a very short root curled arond iteself...
I attempted to gently aim the tip of the root down then reburied it about a quarter inch down in the soil...
FINGER CROSSED!!

Raiven, you've put a fair amount of faith in me by listening to my advice about a soil growing medium. That makes it worth while for me to spend a little time explaining some things I've learned in detail instead of with short answers.

You were successful at germinating your seeds. On the other hand, you've sort of failed at achieving a few of the important plant structural qualities prized by those who grow in limited spaces. What you want to do down the road is limit the initial stretch and encourage tight node formation so you end up with a squat little bush instead of a lanky plant.

I've used rapid rooters before and didn't care for them. I like to soak the seeds and plant them between 1/2 and 3/4 inch deep into a lean well drained soil before they even split open and show a root. The same method works well if you use the paper towel method and get a little root before you drop it in the soil.

The planting depth is very important. If you plant too shallow the seedling will not shed it's seed coat before it breaks ground. It grows up like crazy until the seed coat is shed and the cotyledons open. As the seed coat moves up through the soil friction particles drag against it and pull it off. All you have to do is make sure the soil is moist. Measure 3/4 of an inch on the tip of a pencil or something and use it to make a hole to drop the seed in. You just leave them in a warm place and they sprout in a couple of days.

Notice that this seedling just breaking ground has already lost it's seed coat. That's what you want.

I leave the sprouting pots on top of the fridge where it's pleasantly warm until they sprout or I put them right under the lights and mist the top of the soil once or twice a day.

You want the plants right under cfl or fluorescent lighting - like 2-3' above the top of the plant. That plays a big role in keeping the plant short right out of the gates. It won't burn them.

As the plant grows up I adjust the plant downwards. I find it is much easier to move the plant down than raise lights so I set the pot on a stack of old books or something and simply remove a book when the plant is getting too close. So long as they have an inch or so of clearance they are fine. I keep the young plants very close to the light until they are 30 days old or so. I take them out from under the cfls into the greenhouse to take pictures and that's it. If you put them in the sun they will also stretch aggressively.

These are 10 days out of the ground. They are in the same soil you'll be using in the future and grown under cfls.

By starting the plants out carefully you will get the most out of your limited space.

Some GREAT step by step PeeJay, especially for a noob like me!

What are the purple flowers next to the grow in the picture? As a hobby, or for pest control?

I believe that my faith is well put...
From your explanations and pictures you seem to have a great method and amazing results...

I truly appreciate all your help...

Everything is due in tomorrow and I cannot wait to get started...

For seeds I have been putting them in a cup of water until they pop then I would put them in a damp paper towel on a plate covered until there was a half inch of root give or take...
on my first grow I put the rooted seeds directly into soil from the paper towel...
On this second grow I went into rockwool from the paper towel cause I was waiting for the new ProMixHP to come in...
These new seeds shot out of the rockwool like ive never seen and the tallest one (until yesterday) had its seed shell on it still!!! (i believe you saw that in the pictures)
Yesterday I attempted to gently knock the seed shell off the head of the plant but i decapitated her by mistake!!! :thedoubletake:So I got rid of that one...
The other one thats struggling is the Cr+ which still has not gotten more than a quarter inch of root and has no popped thru soil yet...
I dug it out gently yesterday and I think I may have planted it too deep...Another good point you had made...
So I brought it closer to the top about 3/4" below surface and reburied it...

I took your advice with the distance to the light...Although I fear it is too late to stop the stretching maybe??
I raised up all the seedlings and my new clones to within 3 inches from the light...Will this still work even if they are already as tall as your 10 day and 15 day old plants? Hahaha

I would love to be able to work with nice short bushy plants like you have ... They look so good in your pictures as if they we molded into place by the green gods themselves...

Again thank you so much ...
Please check back soon for updates!!

Ill be posting some pics today and then tomorrow when all the supplies come in...
