It is that time of year again where I attempt what I like to call the annual 4/20 Challenge, which I hope others will participate in this year. As before, the primary objective is to have at least one seed either sprouted or if already sprouted, planted on 2024/04/20, and maintained for at least one year to then be harvested on 4/20 next year. This is one of the reasons I posted elsewhere on this forum about timing a flip to ensure a plant's buds are ready to harvest on a specific target date. I have other objectives as well to attempt, but will spell those out a little later.

To begin, I will be starting a single Wildling-00:2019 seed daily at midnight from now through midnight on the 20th. Any that sprout before the 21st will be planted in Jiffy Pots on the 20th and become subjects for this project.

So here we go with the first one.

Ugh. So far, none of them have sprouted. Still 14 hours to go before 4/20 is over though. At the very least, if no sprouties today, at least the one that was started at midnight 4/20 can still be a subject for this project. The others, when and if they sprout, will just get integrated into the general Wildling-00:2019 journal.

Next year, I go back to starting 2 per day like I did previous years.

I am pleased to say that 04/20 ultimately ended with 2 subjects sprouted after all: 15 and 18.

I will give them a day or two to grow out a bit, then they will get J-Pots with about 1/4 Miracle Gro potting soil and 3/4 yard dirt; and put them immediately on flowering lighting for 10 days. When and if 20 sprouts, it will receive the same treatment and remain part of this project, since it was at least started on 4/20.

If the others sprout, they will get put into the general Wildling-01:2019 journal.

TTS: 04/15 - 1 Week (6 Days)
04/18 - 3 Days

Yeah, that is the general gist of that part of the project, and hopefully, the ones that have not yet sprouted, when they do sprout, can be used for early experimenting in timings; possibly even let one or two after sexing remain in flower to go all the way to a harvest (even if a tiny harvest). Heck, not only do I want to get one timed to harvest on 4/20, I hope to have an offspring seed from one of the three subjects for the project actually either germinate or otherwise at least get planted on 4/20 next year.

At least from previous experiences, seeds can and do become viable well before the bud is ready to finally harvest.

Update coming soon as 15 and 18 get planted. 15's tap root is only 3/8" right now, but 18 went balls to the wall and is a full 2 inches. Got their pre-planted pictures taken, now need to get them planted and put on flowering lighting right off and then do the actual update here.

StP: 36 Hours

Alright. First two subjects are planted and getting window time. Unlike other projects, these are being identified by their start, sprout, and plant dates. At time of planting, taproots were...

S:15/20/22 - 3/8" / 9.53mm
S:18/20/22 - 2.0" / 50.80mm

They get to start out on the windowsill in my room, getting their first 10 hours of light (will be moved to the little blurple lamp on the night stand after the Sun is no longer doing anything for them later this afternoon). Then 22:00 tonight, they go into a dark drawer for their first 14 hours darkness as I start them on flowering lighting right away, which will be what they stay on until 05-02 or 05-04, then they go on veg lighting of wakey to bedtime (my wakey and my bedtime).

Updates will likely be weekly or as needed, and they will all include browth measurements, measured from the lip of the Jiffy Pots. No need on this one though, since they are buried to the neck, so measurements for both would be 0.00" / 0.00mm anyway.

Seeds are like 2 year old's. Some days they wake you up jumping on your bed, other days you can not get them up and moving. Not to mention they are siblings not clones, so they each have there own personality and pace. Once they are out of the seedling terrible 2 stage it is easier to manipulate the veg, flower, dry and cure times.

TTS: 80 Hours

S:20 is now sprouted, so is now temporarily S:20/23. It will likely get planted tomorrow, if not Thursday.

These are 5 year old seeds, of which I have an imperial assload (vs the lower quantity metric assload I have of some others). They've been pretty virile so far. Who knows how far into the future they will still be sprouting, eh?

SPT: +28 Hours

S:20/23 is ready enough for a Jiffy Pot. It is about 2/3 Miracle Gro soil and 1/3 yard dirt.

Taproot length at time of planting - 5/8" / 15.9mm

Grew much faster than I expected...

It is also now designated S:20/23/24 and come 22:00 tonight, will be joining its siblings for 14 hours of darkness, beginning flowering lighting until 05/04. That is when the other two will also come off flowering lighting.

For now, it gets to join them on the windowsill in my room.

And there is what I guess I can call my 4/20 Trio, what with 2 of them planted on 4/20 and the third started on 4/20.
