So I had a clone leftover in the original starter cup. I didn’t have the heart to let it die , so kept watering occasionally and it continues to thrive . This will be the first time I finished one in a cup

That is interesting, good to see it survived that well in a downsizing cup. I'm downsizing myself this year, I've put this years crop in 5 gal pot's in lieu of 10 gal ones.
The reason for my downsizing is to compare not only the yield but ease of moving them as and when needed.

Good luck on your adventure! . You might be watering a bit more frequently, however going from 5”s to 3”s inside I didn’t notice much decrease - obviously depending on veg time.
