I use well water that's never been tested. Works like a champ.

Many very successfull growers use well water as I even am tapped in to a prized aquifer that a neighbor sells as a service with trucks, bottles, and a brand name. Despite this I use city water for drinking and plants but well water for my birds. There was no "city water" in many places just a few years ago. The problems with wells are dependant on where in the USA you reside and what geology and minerals or lack thereof you have in the well. I know Arsenic. and Suplphur are real problems in some wells but again there is technology to soften and purify even the most wretched water from wells and even re-cycling it at the institutional level such as prisons do. If the well water is bad for plants you can always buy a Merlin Reverse Osmosis Machine or filter that will supply your entire home and garden with high quality potable purified water from your well at a very reasonable exspense.
