Year 2: Off-Grid Spring-Fed Hillbilly Soil Grow

Hi Simon!

I was cruising thru journals and found yours, nice setup with the greenhouse!!

These appear to be auto-flower, autos will stunt or stall out in a heartbeat, they will not tolerate rough handling... bad environment, upcanning a weak plant, transplant too soon, cool temps etc. The curled leaf is sign of reveg.

While repotting into a larger container is a widely accepted practice for photoperiod plants, the same step can wreak havoc on an auto-flower. Sure just like topping an auto.....it can be done - but it can slam the brakes on future growth.

Unless I am missing something these will not survive overwinter... autos are in a race to mature, reproduce then comes senescence or death.

Edit to add.... It’s totally possible that these are photoperiod clones that were stunted from the start and are smaller yet supercropped so they resemble autos. If that’s the case they could survive overwinter.

I’ve seen some greenhouse growers who could extend their season by using 8 inches of mulch to insulate underneath and around their containers.
