2 Rooms - Coco vs RDWC - LED vs HPS - Sugar Punch/Madberry/Herijuana - Perpetual

Hi Everyone! This is my 2nd journal and my 3rd grow. My first 2 grows were hand watered in coco. I wanted something more automated and also wanted to try different methods of growing to see what best suits me. I also love to learn new things and am handy so I decided to build an undercurrent system. I got some seeds from a reputable breeder and got the ball rolling.

What strain is it? Sannie's Herijuana IBL (Indica), Madberry fem (Hybrid), and Sugar Punch fem (Sativa)
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? From seed
If in Veg... For how long? 7 weeks from seed to flip
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? RDWC and Coco
If soil... what is in your mix? - DNA Coco w Cork, plus perlite for added drainage
If soil... What size pot? - 5 gallon pots in bloom
Size of light? Under 2 LEDs in RDWC - Spydr xPlus 650w each; 1 Gavita E6/750 on light rail over coco at 800w with controller
Is it aircooled? Window AC unit, sealed with Co2 @ 1000ppm
Temp of Room/cab? 75-82 degrees
RH of Room/cab? 50-60%
PH of media or res? 5.8-6.2
Any Pests ? No
How often are you watering? Coco- twice daily @ approx 5 gallons per watering
Type and strength of ferts used? Cultured solutions full line for coco and rdwc - Coco is @ 1000ppm approx. RDWC has not gone above 200ppm without burning tips. Adding CaliMagic at approx 1/4 strength. In coco I'm also supplementing with Nectar for The Gods Nutes I had left over from my last grow.

So...on to the rooms

The 4'x8' RDWC system has a chiller keeping the nutrient temps between 65-68 continousy with about as much dissolved oxygen as possible. I think this is why I've had to keep my ppms so low in there. For the system I built I used (9) 13 gal buckets with 3" pipe and bulkheads. My pump is 1200 gal per hour. 1 large commercial air pump for the buckets and 1 smaller for the control bucket. For my res I use a flexi tank. I topped off only during veg and began change outs weekly in flower (60% solution drained and changed). Here's the system

Cnd here's my DIY drain to waste for coco. I tied the drain to my furnace drain to keep it simple. The trays are actually for washing machines, but were cheaper than buying ones geared specifically to horticulture.

And the beginning...I started everything under the LEDs while the Gavita and light mover was being ordered and shipped. All but 2 of the seeds planted popped. I blame myself as I may have pushed them too far into the cubes.

Re: 2 Rooms - Coco vs. RDWC - LED vs. HPS - Sugar Punch, Madberry, Herijuana -Perpetu

Over the next few weeks I began topping, LST, and Supercropping as I felt needed. I also defoliate to keep everything clean and tidy. The plants in pots went under the Gavita at flip to flower. Now all I could do is wait to separate the boys from the girls...

Here they are before the move to the other room. I ran a gutter between my RDWC that drained into a bucket so I could hand water in coco and empty the drainage easily. The coco is the middle row. That monster in the back right is an extremely vigorous madberry...I'll be pheno hunting to pick mothers later in the grow.

The Madberry and Sugar Punch are fem so I only have to sex the Herijuana IBL. Out of 10 Herijuana seeds 1 didn't sprout and 2 turned out to be males. Sadly, 1 of the males was in my RDWC so the 4x8 is missing a corner. I cloned the vigorous Madberry and threw her in there to see what would happen from clone straight to 12/12...

For cloning I used clonex and great white using the double dip method. For the solution I used very low strength Posedezime (sp?) and Cannas Rhizo I had left over. Only a couple clones didn't make it. I'd say 95% success rate my first attempt!!!

This was the male in RDWC. No pistils, just nuts forming.

Cloned everything so I can pick moms for the perpetual.

Update: It's been a busy month for me. Both rooms having been going fantastic! This is definitely my best grow to date. I've added a DIY 5x8 drain table with DIY irrigation to make things easier on me. We are at the end of week 7 and the Herijuana in RDWC is nearing harvest time. Everything smells amazing and my Carbon filter can't keep up anymore...

For the flood table I used 2x4 framing and plywood for the base. Both sides are pitched slightly to a 1x6 gutter, also pitched, with a shower drain attached. I used shower pan liner for waterproofing and stapled it to the 1x6 sides at the edges.

Irrigation. For the DTW system I used a 3/4" main line feeding 1/2" DIY drip rings. I drilled approx 8-10 holes in each tube and cut them to fit the fabric pots. They are a bit small for the plastic air pots, but will work just fine. I'm using a 360gph pump for watering. Everything worked the first attempt, but I need to clean out a few of the drilled holes or open them up so all plants are watered a bit more evenly. There are 2-3 that are getting a bit less than the rest at the moment. I also added a 2 tier scrog net. This table holds (20) 5 gallon pots perfectly. Above it is a Gavita 1000w E series on a light rail.

Wow!!!!!! I admire ur work!! So what system produced the best? Which light produced the best? So many questions to a fantastic grow!!! What nutes were used? Did u build ur cab definitely don't look like a tent? Great grow!!

Thanks Pino! Those are actual rooms. My nutes haven't changed since the start. I'm running the cultured solutions (current culture) line and tossing in occasional leftovers from Nectar for the Gods. PH kept at 5.8-6.1 My little clone/mother cabinet is just 2x4s and plywood with that bubble wrap insulation from the big orange contractor store.

I chopped down 1 of my madberry girls today. She's apparently a pretty rare pheno and I'm loving the way she turned out! The smell is a soft, citrus berry fragrance that doesn't overpower. Can't wait to do a smoke report.
