Hi Everyone! This is my 2nd journal and my 3rd grow. My first 2 grows were hand watered in coco. I wanted something more automated and also wanted to try different methods of growing to see what best suits me. I also love to learn new things and am handy so I decided to build an undercurrent system. I got some seeds from a reputable breeder and got the ball rolling.
What strain is it? Sannie's Herijuana IBL (Indica), Madberry fem (Hybrid), and Sugar Punch fem (Sativa)
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? From seed
If in Veg... For how long? 7 weeks from seed to flip
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? RDWC and Coco
If soil... what is in your mix? - DNA Coco w Cork, plus perlite for added drainage
If soil... What size pot? - 5 gallon pots in bloom
Size of light? Under 2 LEDs in RDWC - Spydr xPlus 650w each; 1 Gavita E6/750 on light rail over coco at 800w with controller
Is it aircooled? Window AC unit, sealed with Co2 @ 1000ppm
Temp of Room/cab? 75-82 degrees
RH of Room/cab? 50-60%
PH of media or res? 5.8-6.2
Any Pests ? No
How often are you watering? Coco- twice daily @ approx 5 gallons per watering
Type and strength of ferts used? Cultured solutions full line for coco and rdwc - Coco is @ 1000ppm approx. RDWC has not gone above 200ppm without burning tips. Adding CaliMagic at approx 1/4 strength. In coco I'm also supplementing with Nectar for The Gods Nutes I had left over from my last grow.
So...on to the rooms
The 4'x8' RDWC system has a chiller keeping the nutrient temps between 65-68 continousy with about as much dissolved oxygen as possible. I think this is why I've had to keep my ppms so low in there. For the system I built I used (9) 13 gal buckets with 3" pipe and bulkheads. My pump is 1200 gal per hour. 1 large commercial air pump for the buckets and 1 smaller for the control bucket. For my res I use a flexi tank. I topped off only during veg and began change outs weekly in flower (60% solution drained and changed). Here's the system
Cnd here's my DIY drain to waste for coco. I tied the drain to my furnace drain to keep it simple. The trays are actually for washing machines, but were cheaper than buying ones geared specifically to horticulture.
And the beginning...I started everything under the LEDs while the Gavita and light mover was being ordered and shipped. All but 2 of the seeds planted popped. I blame myself as I may have pushed them too far into the cubes.
