This is what I mean when I say culture and location matter so much. Guiliani crapped all over the 2nd and 4th amendment and it made his city safer. This would not work in rural or suburban areas at all. This is why trying to legislate issues on a national level will almost always cause more harm than good.

Personally I am of the firm belief that those who are willing to sacrifice their rights in the name of safety deserve neither. Police aren’t going to be there when stuff hits the fan, and I’ll be damned if I’m stuck defenseless hoping and waiting on another man to show up and protect my family.

My theory is this, in the 90s I think it was they had a problem with shootings in Richmond Va. They started charging everyone with federal crimes and sentencing which is longer with no early release. They want people killing each other to reduce the criminals in society. CL

We don’t call the police in this family never have. Any issue I’ve ever had I’ve dealt with myself, and like you said, if it was getting burned then I just paid for an expensive lesson.

I’ve personally watched the police get called and the person that called wound up having their whole life turned upside down and they spent years fighting crap in court. The police have no legal requirement to protect us, regardless of what their fancy mottos and cruiser paint jobs say.

Their little thin blue line is a lie. People are what separate bad from good, crime from order, not police. If all it took was a thin blue line of cops to keep the law and order we wouldn’t have inner cities plagued with violence and crime. Neighborhoods are the ones that decide whether they’re gonna put up with criminals and violence, not police.

Cops are there to protect businesses and the wealth of the haves from the have nots. They’re there to make sure the poors don’t get out of line, not protect them. It’s an all around joke for anyone to believe in this idea of noble police officers heroically saving citizens lives when in reality 99% of their job is to show up after a crime has already been committed against you and take notes for a report, that’s it.

I have extended family members who are no longer allowed in my home because they chose to call the police. We don’t play that bs around here. We’ve been able to handle every single one of our own issues and there’s been many, and major, without the help of cops.

Cops don’t need more oversight and better staffing with community oriented priorities, they just need more military hand me downs, less accountability, and maybe a new football stadium.

Yep.. Police in America were systematically reestablished with military ideologies and created to be literal Soldiers on our streets. Their culture is rooted in an Us Vs Them mentality. They create a “brotherhood” to cover each other for the mistakes and problems they’ve created. It’s disgusting and an affront to the brotherhood my fellow veterans and I share.

Not a bad idea at all. It’s hard for non Americans to wrap their brains around it because their culture isn’t like ours. Our culture is one of independence, and with independence comes the requirement of taking care of yourself, your family, and your property. We don’t depend on the state to provide and care for us, it’s not designed like that.

People like to use the U.K. as an example but you can’t compare an island of 70 million people who have a culture of bending the knee and serving royalty to a continent with 350 million people that set out and took the land themselves by force. It’s just not gonna happen. Places that are used to socialism, state intervention, royalty, and governments controlling everything can’t understand American culture.

They’ve been systematically shamed into believing fighting for themselves is selfish, dangerous and irresponsible. What’s a few peasants lives worth as long as the majority and the king are still fed and safe?

You have to be here, in our culture with our people to be able to get it. You have to be exposed to more than just one place on this vast continent of ours to get it. We are not the same and that’s okay, but don’t think we won’t fight for every single inch. Our country was born out of violence and aggression. That doesn’t just fade now that we’ve taken it for ourselves.

City dwellers also can easily forget that the other half of our population doesn’t live 2 minutes from a police station or hospital and that huge swathes of our land are untamed and lawless. Laws and regulations in the city limits of Detroit have no business existing in the prairies of Texas. How situations are handled in unincorporated land shouldn’t be handled the same way as they are in a city of millions.

Local government and local culture, that’s where you fix the issues.
