Cannabis 1's First Hydro & Soil Grow

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

I just finished your first journal! Holy Cow! I am very impressed with your set up! Nice talent! :bravo:

I really appreciate that. Thank You! I haven't had a chance to get to your journal yet, but soon....

Today I had my weekly res clean out and also did a monthly wipe down of every surface I could get to. This week, after finally getting the nutrient temp under semi control, there was no sign of algae or fungus. I still plan on buying a chiller, because dropping these water bottles in is killing me! Not to mention I have to fish them back out, shoulder deep in nutes!

This week I bumped the nutes up to 1/2 strength for veg. I'll keep a close eye on the ladies to make sure there is no burn...

It looks like the Chron is doing very well. Nice and green , and her roots are exploding now, no sign of burn, or rot. Even the two Hawaiian have a nice amount of roots despite their struggles.

Also, my first attempt to clone anything was with four little branches I cut off my tomato plants. Two Sweet Million, and two Big Boy.
I cut them off of the mothers not really knowing where or what to cut, but I dipped them in rootech, placed them in rockwool an left them in the seed tray with the dome on. They struggled, but both Sweet Million and one Big Boy rooted!! :woohoo:

I'll get them into soil on Sunday. Thats is for now, hope you guys have a great weekend!!!

Subscribed. Welcome to 420 Magazine! What nutrients are you using and how many millilitres per gallon in your hydroponic system? What is the ppm of your reservoir? Are you also using a calcium and magnesium supplement? Your plant with the dark spots in your hydroponic system has a phosphorous deficiency.

You want pH 5.8 for hydroponic and soiless (peat moss and coco coir) and pH 6.5 for soil.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Thanks KingJohnC. Im mixing my nutes ( Technaflora ) up from 1/4-sull strength. Right now Im at 1/2 strength for veg. The res is 15 gallons. Right not the PPM is around 650-700. For calcium and magnesium, im using calmag. The plant with the phosphorus deficiency had been like that from birth. Im goin to keep her in the hydro and see how she handles it. My pH is always 5.7-6.2.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Alrighty guys. Yesterday, I decided to top my lady. I hope I did it right. By this morining, she had grown a little, so I think she will be fine!! Ill get a few pics of that later. Here is a pic of the other ladies. They are looking ok, but the edges of their leaves look like they are pointing upwards. Not to sure whats up. Im goin keep them on the 1/2 strength nutes along with the Chronic. Right now, Im trying to find the lastest time I will be able to add any buds to the hydro. Meaning, can I skip over the transplant nutes and right into veg...... We will see....

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

I checked my baby last night and she is looking good. There is new growth around the top I cut, so it looks like I did it right. Its a little higher than the cut I made, so she is definitely growing. Check it out...

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Well, it looks like JC has slowed down growing. I guess it is because I topped her. Hopefully she will snap out of it......
The 2 Haze in the hydro are doing good. Still slow growing, but i figured they would. Putting them into the hydro, skipping over transplant nutes and going directly to 1/4 strength for veg seems like the latest I can transplant into the hydro system. Im goin to veg these ladies until I can clone them.

It looks like the healthier of the two Haze in soil has a little nute burn now. I did a water flush to both ladies. Its weird, it showed up almost a week after giving them the first nutes, and after a water flush. I think Its a combo of nute burn ( burt tips ) and phosphorus deficiency ( spots ). Im going to mix some more nutes tonight and get the girls what they are craving.

Check out the close up of the Haze. Is that a lady, or is it to early to tell? The chronic looks the same and she is feminized.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Not sure. She's growing so we will find out together

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

I was thinking about your question Mike. I might have topped her a little high on the stem. The spots are where the main stem and two fan leaves were. She is definitely growing, I had the CO2 blasting her in the face the past couple days for some added supercharging.

I also topped one of the Haze in the Hydro. The one that was struggling....... And she is showing new growth as well.

Last Night I did my weekly Res clean out. There was a little crap in there, but not as bad as the first two nute changes. Now the ladies in the Hydro are all on 3/4 Strength for Veg.

The other two haze in soil are looking ok. The one is still showing some spots, but I gave them nutes yesterday also, so hopefully I gave them what they wanted!!!

I also had to do some rearranging. The giant pumpkin is getting to big to keep in the tent. I moved it over until I can get to it sunday and plant her outside. Do you guys think the pumpkin will be ok transplanting it from hydro to soil? Either way, we will find out very soon........

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

It is too soon to sex your cannabis plants in the photographs. The dark areas at the top of the area where the plant was fimed is normal and is the dead end of the growth that was cut.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Thanks John. So Ill wait till flowering to determine sex.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

That seems like a good plan. I guess if they were growing outside and unattended, they would have to get what they need from mother earth to survive. Them being inside, I think I'm loving them to death......

you have to include a cannabis plant in your veggie plants if you want to make it relevant.

What do you mean by that?
