Cannabis 1's First Hydro & Soil Grow

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

That seems like a good plan. I guess if they were growing outside and unattended, they would have to get what they need from mother earth to survive. Them being inside, I think I'm loving them to death......

What do you mean by that?

Plants will adapt to there grow conditions. If say you are a bit low on mag you may notice it in young growth but it will seem to correct itself. This is theb plant adapting its grow to the conditions it lives in. What we all do as growers is maximize our production by supplying ideal conditions. Ideal conditions are rarel found outdoors yet the plants continue to grow. This shows us that the plant will grow but possibly not to the best of its abilities. A few things that will make your grow easiervis start lowrr than recommended on everything and bump up amounts over time. Dont move your plants around either. Also, this mqy not apply to you, never add nute solution to dry roots. Prewater with phd water then feed. Your doing fine.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Damn! Didn't realize how strict the guidelines were. Im a pretty easy going guy, but censoring my pics really ticked me off. Its part of my "grow" so I see no reason I cant include them in my journal......Either way.....whatever.......

Thanks Dankness. Everything you said is ringing true in my ears. Thanks for the tips too. I guess no matter how hard I try, there will always be unknown factors that you need to deal with. Ill keep adding useful info to my grow and hopefully become a great gardener.

Ok guys, I had a f'd up weekend. As you know, I changed the nutes on friday night and bumped them up to 3/4 for Veg. Everything was fine that night, and the following Saturday morning. When I got home on Saturday night and opened the tent up, I almost had a heart attack. My Chronic was curled over and in horrible shape. I immediately braced her up and tried to figure out what was goin on. After an hour of scrambling, I located the problem. The plug for the damn Hydro was hanging out of the outlet! I think my father inadvertently unplugged it when he was using the basement stairs. I plugged it back in and the plant immediatly started to recover. Thanks god! But I did have to cut a bunch of leaves off of her that got all dried up an shrivled from the 24 hours of no nutes. I guess the plant was using the moisture in her leaves to try and survive. She has since fully recovered, but is looking bare from the pruning.

Its very strange. All the other plants in the hydro held up fine. The two Hawaiian Haze only had a few small leaves that dried out. Maybe because it is a Hawaiian Strain, it is more resistant to drought? I spent last night trimming all the other plants and they all are doing ok.

I also got the pumpkin and some tomatoes planted outside. They are also doing just fine. Now that I have some more room in the tent, Im going to get a few more ladies in soil planted!!! All unknown strains from bag seed.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Nice recovery and I'm jealous of your setup.

Thanks Calyx! Took a lot of elbow grease putting it all together from scratch, but it was well worth it!
Thanks for the compliments! Im glad that I caught the problem in time. Using hydro is great for the explosive growth rates, but it is not very forgiving. A single problem can compound itself and get out of control quick. After this first grow, I hope I will be able to run the Hydroponics with my eyes closed!

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

HAHA!!!!! Maybe move him to the shed!

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a rampant condition. Just keep an eye on it. Plants do very strange things and yet turn out just fine. Your girls look good. :goodjob:

My guess is: It's like a birthmark, just because of the pattern. I'm with ColoradoKid, I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

By the way, where did you get your tent? I want the 10'x5'x6', I have a height limit but want the extra room. Your grow is looking good man, Keep up the good work!

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Thanks Shadowman!!! Im with you on the birthmark. There have been no other leaves with any pigment discoloration. I picked up the tent on Amazony. Ill shoot you a link to the page in your inbox.

It looks like the Chronic has made a full recovery. Almost like nothing happened, except for a few small bare spots where I hacked her apart. I am now just over a month into VEG. How much longer do you think I should keep her vegin out? And also, when is the best time to bring the trellis into the tent? She is about 12-16 inches tall now, and my trellis height is a little above her. Should I put it now and let her work her way up?

Looks like the Haze I topped has some really slow growth now. The other in the hydro is definitely gaining some weight though....

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Thanks John. I actually moved the two in soil to my backyard. I'm going to sit back and let them be.
Over the weekend, I started 5 other seedlings. All unknown strains. I used a small container and the 4th tray of my hydro setup to make a totally seperate Hydro system for the babies. Now I should be able to keep plants in all different stages in the tent.

My brother got married over the weekend. Im not one to drink, but this was a special occasion. Bud and Buds!!! Cheers!!!

The Ladies in the Hydro are getting huge guys. The one haze has not grown a millimeter, I think when i fimmed it, i must have shocked it to hard.... oh well, Ill just let her get fat not tall.......

Do all the bushes get this full looking? Should I be pruning some of the lower leave? Oh, and I forgot to tell ya, I picked a few good spots and fimmed her around the edges. They responded very well and I now have a total of 4 branches that should produce multiple buds..... wooohoooo

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

I would defoliate some of the large fan leaves to open up the nodes of the plants where the branches and tops come off of and increase the amount of light and growth.

Re: Cannabis 1's First Hydro and Soil grow

Alright guys. I did some defoliation last night. I think it came out ok for my first time. What do you think? It took me over an hour on the one lady alone. I didn't have time to defoliate the haze, but I did have to cut up the other haze that was stunted.
So I took some of her branches, along with a few from the chronic, and I am trying to clone them. I don't have any pics of them yet, but as of this morning, they looked fine. All their fan leaves perked up in the dome.
