Flo # 2 - Austin Hash Plant - Random Seeds

Got those pics now. Luckily there doesn't seem to be much shock from the transplant, maybe I'm getting better or something lol. The seed plants are pretty thirsty though so I'm watering them tonight/tomorrow. Still no signs of sex on them yet.

looking good stealth!

a little yellowing. might be a nitrogen deficiency. give them a good feed and then wait for your pot to feel light.

It probably is the ph, I've been giving straight distilled water thus far so it's about time to ph the water I suppose, maybe toss in a few drops of nutes or something

I use the lift the pot method, waterings maybe every 4 or 5 days. I mixed up a 1/4th gallon and split it between the 5 babies. Had like 7 drops of Grow Big in the 1/4th gallon and a little micronutes/calmag. They aren't dry atm for sure, but they will be in a few days. The color could be a little better but I'm blaming it on the fact that the plants are young.

I think we can work out what is slowing down your plants buddy. You have great stuff but, if you don't check the pH it's hard to be sure what's going on. You dig?

I don't really like to toot my own horn on other people's grows but in just 3 weeks my plant grew almost 10 times bigger than how it was back on June 15th when I started the journal. That was because I tweaked pH until my plant was happy. My pH always used to be too high, gave me lots of deficiencies, very slow growth. Once I fixed that broken link, the plant exploded skyward. Peace stealthboat!!!

I have found a ppm meter to be very useful also.
it is very easy to use and you get a good idea of how much food to give your plants.

unless you are training your plants to be tiny bonsai, by day 60 you would typically be a week or two into flower.

i recently started a grow also, our results are night and day. I put my plant into flower at day 34 from seed. it was 13 inches tall. it is 51 days old and on day 16 of flower. it is 29 inches tall today. I feed once a week. I will check my pots, if they feel light I give them ph'd water until the next feed.

your clones seem fine, but your seeded are way behind schedule.

i hope im not coming off the wrong way, i just want you to succeed.

peace

Yes I always ph now, I learned from my last grow. PH is always between 5.6-6.0 so far, I plan to keep a drift in there throughout the grow since I feed up to 3 times a week during flower. And yes they do need dialing in since it is new, untouched Promix with perlite. I watered/fed all the seeds today, ph of solution was 5.8, I use a ph pen to determine ph. The clones are doing fine, just not drying out quick enough for my tastes due to lack of roots still. This is my first time with seeds so maybe I screwed them a bit but this is just a learning experience in the end, thanks for the input guys

I would suggest a weekly feeding schedule.

waiting for it to dry completely is just going to slow down its growth.

Got an update today. The plants are looking better today, I should start increasing nute dosages steadily here. Temps in the 70's and RH in the 50%'s

The Flo is definitely the strongest grower so far, it's been bulking up quickly. I also topped it a few days ago by the way, I'll be topping the others soon

Had a screwy picture glitch so I had to deal with it, lost a few photos but oh well. Plants are looking great, giving them plenty of water. Seed #2 showed sex today, it's a female! I also applied a little more LST for now. Gonna top the AHP and probably leave it at that for the day.

Got some pics today! I was a day late on watering the Flo so it got a little too dry the other day, thus the limping. Other plants seem to be doing fine. Seed #1 isn't really doing much, the weird discoloration of the leaves makes me think its just going to be a dud at this point. #2 is doing great and shooting straight up, also has a much nicer green color now. I topped it a few days ago also. #3 is incredibly short and bushy, no sign of sex yet though. Color has also improved a lot on #3. AHP is doing fine, I'm doing some training to get it very low to the ground over these next few weeks, hope it can handle it. Flo is doing fine, growing like a beast and I'm slowly getting her to the ground. No sign of any bugs in weeks, temps still in the 70's with humidity in the 50%'s

Putting up some pictures now. I removed seed #1 because it was growing incredibly slowly and it was still unsexed. The yield would have been some subpar bud most likely, or just a male. #2 is looking beautiful these days, #3 is still crazy short and doesn't need any topping, if anything it is too short! Still unsure if #3 is female or male so fingers crossed. Flo #2 is being grumpy due to what I can only assume to be overwatering since I put the plant is a container too big for it. I'm trying to reduce the number of transplants required so hopefully this works out in the end (it will only need 1 transplant ideally, same with AHP). AHP is doing great, maybe a little droopy but plenty of new growth is showing up. LST is working slowly on all plants, I haven't broke any branches yet lol ;) Ok back to those pics

Ok so here's the last picture of Seed #1, not too different from last week:

Overall not too bad, I'm very curious about #2. I'm also thinking of using distilled water for their life cycle versus tap water, any thoughts on that?

I ask mainly because of how much PH Down is required. When comparing tap water to distilled water, tap water will require 4 times the amount of PH Down that distilled water would have. Doesn't this have a profound effect on the plants, watering with a solution that has 4 times the PH Down in it?

nope. you are basically adding acidic properties to bring the ph down. the more acidic the water, the lower the ph.
so the math is like this.
tap water + a lot ph down = 5.8 (these are hypothetical results mind)
distilled water + a little ph down = 5.8

no matter what, your plants are getting the ph they need. you are just adding what they need to the base water.

I also use lemon juice to lower my ph, a couple drops per gallon and it is usually go to go.

I use 5.8 as my number because I use coco. I believe your go to number would be 6.8 for soil.

I can't comment too much on the ph as we use different nutrients. If you decide to go distilled I would definitely look into purchasing some sort of cal/mag product. Also if you switch over you might find that instead of using ph down your going to be using a lot of ph up as I have found ph goes down significantly with RO water. I'm thinking distilled will have the same result.

My medium is 40%perlite/60% Promix HP, I'm fluctuating the ph between 5.6-6.0 essentially month by month. I've only used distilled water so far and yes I do add extra cal-mag (Botanicare). With regard to ph, won't more PH Down mean it will react more with the nutes, leaving a less efficient solution for the plants? Maybe I'm overthinking it but idk. Thanks for the input guys
