Nutrient PPM from feed chart

Hi,

I'm using the GH DTW feed chart as a guide, and I just realised I'm not sure on something basic.... the feed chart lists target PPM like this:

My question is, is this target PPM the final target, or the amount of PPM added by the nutrients?

A different way of asking the same question: if my tap water starts at 200ppm and I'm mixing nutrients for seedling stage with a target of 200, should my final PPM be 200 or 400?

Thanks

The PPM is added to the PPM of the water you use. Be sure to use the correct version of Flora Micro. There is one for hard water (high PPM), and one for softer water. You will also find discrepancies in the General Hydroponics' documentation as to the amounts to be added.

I only measured the TDS(PPM) once in all of my grows. Rather than TDS, I used a percentage of the amounts recommended on the label. I found 35% was the most I could use, and some strains found that too much.

I would use 30 to 40% of the recommended amount, remember Less is More. H3Ads formula for coco recommend a 6 Flora and 9 Bloom. My assistant is using the flora series and use's 2 ml Flora and 3 ml of Bloom. The target should be 200 to 250 ppm for veg and 300 to 350 for flower.

Thanks for that info GR but you didn't answer the actual question.... when you say 200-250ppm for veg, are you talking about the final ppm of the solution, or are you talking about adding 200-250ppm worth of nutes?

.
Base nutes, Micro and Bloom.

Base nutes, Micro and Bloom.

ok, so for example...

0ppm RO water + base nutes should = 200-250ppm
100ppm tap water + base nutes should = 300-350
100ppm water + 100ppm calmag + base nutes should = 400-450
100ppm water + 100ppm calmag + 50ppm silica + base nutes should = 450-500

and so on...?

You got it! :thumb:

According to the folks at Canna you should add your calmag or just tap water first to get your RO up to 120 ppm before adding base nutes,
Then in veg after your RO is at 120 add 200 to 250 ppm of Base nutes bringing the total ppm to 320 to 370. So in flower it would be RO 120 ppm, plus 300 to 350 base nutes or 420 to 470 ppm.

I don't use Silica, I build my trunk and branches with a fan from the start of seedlings, Keeping a fan blowing on the plants strengthens the trunk and branches. This is in a 2 gallon Smart Pot.

Thanks guys, was just having a little trouble figuring out why the feed chart was asking for 650ppm and I was getting ~950... 150ppm starting water + ~150ppm calmag + 650 nutes explains it though :thumb:

Less is more without a doubt. In my program i keep everything the same and feed at 1.1-1.2 ec or 550-600 ppms for clones all the way thru veg. With seedlings I will feed for a week or ten days at .8 ec around 400 ppms but after that week it all gets the same strength.
