PlanetJ's Big Tent - LED & CFL - Multi-Strain - Perpetual Flowering

good job pj,, i have become a defol fan, always was, but now am for sure. for ease of bug detection if for no other reason. the sore back will surely pay off,, nice work,, cheers, niv

PlanetJ,
They're looking unbelievable!! Great job brother. Whenever I do any amount of trimming at all I have to move each plant onto a table and sit my ass down on a stool or I'll have to quit before I'm half way through.... When I took clones yesterday I sat the lovely Haze on an upside down 5 gallon bucket and sat in a chair. (Kept a bowl handy too) :) Hope you get to feeling better bro.
:Namaste:

Thanks m8, I'm pretty exited about this one myself as well :) Trimming is a PITA, but I'll live .. I will have a bit of pain in my back for a few days .. but it's worth is for sure :) Sounds like you are where I will be in a few years .. it sucks when the body thinks it can deteriorate without permission.

Thanks :) So far I only have fruitflies in my flower tents. Yes I'm sure they are that. My veg .. well .. thats an open area .. but so far I managed to kill everything before bringing them into the tent :)

Todays update .. day after defoil .. they are in their 5th week of flowering atm. They where watered today and I admired my defoil :p

:thanks: for watching!

So, as expected, the jungle is giving her own unique issues .. first yesterday .. everything looking fine:
Edit: Looking back ... yesterday wasnt fine either .. curling is noticeable there as well ...

Flux: (seems unaffected)

Today I opened the tent to an awful dark green bunch of leaves, and them curling up on the sides:

Doing a quick scan in my memory, heat pops up as the possible cause of this issue, and the dark green could normally be N toxicity, if they where still getting N ... which they don't.

Here are current & max and min temp/humidity for the past week:

AFAIK this should be fine ... humidity is trolling me a bit, but should be fine as well .. in any case, I trusted my gut instinct for now, opened the tent wide, doused the girls and 10 minutes later we are looking at this:

I re-arranged the fan as well, and opened the window in the room a bit further to get temps down a bit. This will likely affect the low temp at night, but I rather have them a little slow at night, then too hot during the day.

If anybody thinks I'm making a fuckup, please chime in!

there is a chart on this site somewhere that has a nute ingredient list and the affects that show because of it. i have seen my share of my own down curl,, but have only seen that up curl in pics. sure wish i could find that list,, i need it too

the lighting in your tent makes it very difficult for me , anyways, to distinguish the colours,, i see a lot of purple, and it confuses me as to what the issue is,, the curl is obvious of course,, but is there colour issues as well,, you mention dark green,, hmmmm

there are those that know these things,, we need to find you one of those

On the 5th pic you can see the colour issue best .. you can see the light veins and then the dark green rest of the leaf. You are probably referring to the pest & problem solver with pics .. looked it over, a couple of times. All I can make of that colour is N toxicity .. and that would be very odd, as they got NPK throughout the whole flowering cycle last time (oops), without issues, next to PK AND SuperPK ... aka .. overdose .. I have sanitized my nutrient program since then :p

ok,, i found that chart,, about pest and nute problems,, in case you want it,, i am still figuring out how to link stuff on this site,, but i can do this,, in this post,, left side, where it says blog entry,, that is a link to the post,, the '1',, hope it helps,, helps me as well,, cheers

Yeah, I know that one, and use it right after the one in my sig provides no answer .. neither give me a conclusive answer ..

Right now I'm leaning towards too much water with too much nutes .. as the rest is not really an option. N toxicity cant be it, they hardly get any atm .. they do not get NPK any longer .. been that way for two weeks now.

Heat stress .. with 25C/77F as the upper limit .. seems like impossible, specially given the fact that I am using LED and CFL's.

FLUX is not affected .. she has no way to suck the run-off back up .. the other plants do. There was a little pool below them last watering .. took a day to get absorbed in the soil. Therefore I am leaning towards too much stress due to too much water with too much nutes. We shall see .. next watering I will be gentle with the amount used in both fertiliser and water.

oh ya,, there is the link i was probably looking for in the first place,, in your siggy,, haha that's kinda funny

i will say this about too much n,, i still use only a urine solution to water all my flowering plants,, meaning,, weather i am mixing with nutes or just plain water this time, for watering,, i use the urine solution only. just sayin, cuz,,

urine is all about nitrogen,, mostly,, has the other parts too, but a lotto nitrogen,, so,, i should probably have too much nitrogen in my flowering plants,, and the leaves there are very dark green,, which i like,, but not the least bit unhealthy, in any way,, cheers pj

The leaf curl is heat stress... Do you have a fan oscilating in your tent? If not i would get one. The leaf curl doesnt look to bad. As long as it doesnt get worse or start crisping up your leaves i would say it would be ok. My LSD had some leaf curl like yours for the last 4 weeks in flower due to close to the HPS.

Edit to add: Heat stress at 77 degrees is very easy when its still air or a hot spot right under the light .

Thanks for clearing that up. The low high temp got me confused. I have a non-oscilating fan in there .. will change that asap.

How would I go about bending in a SCROG ? I have no place to bend them .. it's cramped in there :p

I think it's gonna be too much nutes after all, and the curling perhaps a general sign of stress .. to be safe, I put a fan under the canopy. Not sure if it will help much tho, here are todays pictures:

It's already 50cm above the base of the scrog's tops. I will do as you suggest, see how it improves. The light can be raised .. I'll hang it 50cm above the tops of these issue sites.

I'm gonna be calling it nuteburn. Been away a bit .. trying to get away from the computer :) I'll be catching up subs soon .. but still so much to be done in the garden, that I try to keep away from the computer .. I'm the kind that finds himself still behind the computer 12 hours later.

Large update .. covering just 2 days .. the 21st and 22nd of this month. Week 7 for the girls. FLUX is already showing amber trichomes .. on a nice ratio .. she is not too far from the chop. Funny enough, they all flipped on the same day. Lesson learned: more mature plants take less time to flower.

I also have an albino calyx. Looks cool .. dunno if it signifies anything.

It has become a forest .. and I'm really looking forward to harvest. Also, I dried some of FLUX's small twigs .. before and after weight amazed the living daylight out of me .. 6 grams wet became 1.5 dried. I am not pulling yer legs. No she is not dehydrated .. look at the pics ... the nugs are just AMAZINGLY dense .. she was outside the light footprint of my LED . under just 4 CFL's .. 1x 6500K @ 44W and 3x 2300K @ 22W.

I will document this better once I harvest her. Anybody ever heard about this ?

Thanks for watching!
