True Loves - Mixed Seed - Hydro - Coco Coir - Mars LED 2 - 4x4 Grow Tent

12/1/14 day 89. day 35 of 12/12

Further defoliation done. Had been reading Defoliation Hi-yield advanced growing technique on this site.
Increasing yield with defoliation indoors: What's it mean? How to do it?
Thank you to the poster :)
White widow is almost ready. Last picture. Not Sure if I should start flushing and harvest this one. It should still have at least 3.5 weeks to go going buy the breeder.

This one is of the white widow. Hairs are turning brown early. 60% brown. Should I flush her and rip it out in a week?

Breeders times, pistil color, leaf color, can all be inefficient means of determining the readiness of your crop.
I would recommend getting a pocket microscope or digital microscope so that you can gauge readiness by trichome coloration.

Just purchased one on eBay. Should be here by Monday.
Thank you.

No problem man, thought I'd post a quote from another member on here:
nice pictures. IMO it's best to keep pics with their original posts though. That way the entire story gets told. Just a personal thought. Below is the entire post that goes with those pictues.

How to know when to harvest.
This was written by oregongrown on my old site...

The essential facts of timing your harvest

You've managed to make it to the end. You've maintained your plants well, now it's getting closer to harvest time, and you're wondering just how and when to harvest and dry those beautiful buds. Hopefully I can give you some insight into how this can be successfully done; the do's and dont's of proper harvesting and curing. First, lets take a look at the harvest side of things.

Timing of your harvest is critical! Harvesting at maximum ripeness is the key. In my experience, there is usually a five to seven day window when the Cannabis plant will be at maximum ripeness. To understand this, you will need a jeweler's loupe, or magnifying lens, light optional. I would recommend a power of 30x or better, but you can get by with less. A greater magnification makes it much easier to see the trichome heads at the top of the stalked resin glands.

Resin gland color, potency, and type of high

Gland color will vary with ripeness of the individual THC glands, starting at clear, turning to milky, then turning to an amber color. There may be some exceptions, such as some of the Blue strains and Blackberry. These will have darker, sometimes purple gland heads. But by far and large, these three steps of ripeness will exist with the vast majority of strains on the market. The first stage, clear, will tend to make for a more cerebral, up high, with very little body effect. Harvesting at this stage when little if any trichomes are milky yet, can be tricky. Harvesting too early can make for a beautiful plant that will not have much psychoactive capability! THC needs to "mature" to be able to pass its psychoactive capabilities down to the smoker. This is why I always recommend waiting until 50% of the trichomes hit the second stage: milky or creamy. At this point, you will definitely have a plant which has reached its genetic potential.

The milky trichomes have some "cerebral" qualities, as well as some of the more "physical" characteristics of the high. The last stage, amber, brings on a more sedative, physical stone. If this is what you're looking for, than I would recommend a sativa/indica cross, or an indica dominant plant. Amber trichomes seem to ruin a sativa high if the plant goes too long. The below photo is a good example of a ripe plant: at least 50% of the gland heads have turned "milky," some heads are still clear, and a few are amber. This plant was harvested two days later.

Many times you'll read from new growers, "My hairs are 50% changed to brown or red, looks like its ready to come down." Calyx hairs turning color is one thing, calyx hairs withering, is another. When they have withered, they are for the most part, as ripe as they will get. But just turning red/brown does not necessarily mean the plant is ready. Calyx hairs are just an indicator that the plant is ripening, not necessarily ripe yet. I have taken full Indica strains with 60% hairs turned, and sativas when 90% hairs have turned, and they were all at peak ripeness. The trichome color is the only true indicator!

When using a magnifying glass or loupe to determine ripeness, you're examining the resin glands on the buds for signs of maturity and/or decay. During flowering, these glands start out small and increase in size as they fill with resin. As they near maturity, the head of the gland will begin to expand and it will start to look like a tiny mushroom. This is the first sign that they're nearing the point of diminishing returns. This is the point at which production of fresh THC laden resin has slowed and is equal to the rate of decay of THC into CBD.

The decay of THC is accompanied by a change in the color of the resin from clear to amber. This is the other sign of ripeness that can only be determined by magnification. What you're looking for is the point at which the production of fresh resin is still just barely outpacing the decay. It's impossible to know the exact moment. You just need to keep checking and go with your gut. 30 power magnification is enough to make the call, but 100 power would be easier to see clearly. You can find a loupe online by searching for jeweler supplies on any search engine.

Thanks for the info jinn. Much appreciate it.:high-five:

Next grow or when clones are ready I am dropping my pot size down to 2.7gal pot from 7.5galon.

Thought I'd drop some pics of my clones.
They are now 10 days old. Taken from current flowering plants at day 26.
Dome humidity ranges from 45-70%
Temps 23-30c. (73-86f). Low temps correspond with low humidity.

nice root development on those clones man!

Thanks man.

Just transplanted them last night. (12 hrs ago) so here are some pics.

Also I've had to flush my lady's that are in flower. They had turned dark green and the leaves coming of the buds where clawed like cupped down. I diagnosed it has a nitrogen toxicity. I believe it came about due to over feeding them. I had upped the ec to 1.7 with 3 feeds a day and they freaked out. Will post some pic tonight.

Thought stuff it, I'll take some night shots. They have been flushed and it's now day two since I started to try and fix the issue. It may not look as bad has it did.

Now these ladies are at day 92. 12/12 day 39.
Ph is 5.9
Ec has now steady 1.2.

Quick pic update.
Water change today.
Added 6ml/g micro. 12ml/g bloom and 1/2 dose of silica.
Clones are starting to re-veg. Again that white widow is alway last. Very stubborn. Must of been a shit seed.

Dropped 2 blueberry and 2 amnesia haze in a glass of water.

Thanks heaps man:thumb:: .

Funny thing is when I first decided to grow it was on the premis that I would try and get 15/20 ounces and then pack up enjoy as it's only for personal use. Then grow anther lot some years later.
Well has you can see I am enjoying my self so much that I've got new seeds going, clones going not even thinking about stopping. There so much to learn, it's awesome.
Other positive is that it's given me a new hobbie to take my mind off my shitty job. Got an interview on Tuesday so I'm hoping for the stars to align. New job and awesome new hobbie. Family is great what else could a man ask for.
Happy growing.:volcano-smiley::420:

Day 61 of 12/12 light cycle.
It been hot the past few days and will continue for at least the next 10. 30+
Trying to maintain the heat in the room is a constant battle. But keeping it to 30c so far.
Checked the tri's and all where still clear. Even though I past 8 weeks for the OG Kush and white widow. But if I go by when the pistal showed I should be at week seven.

Ph is maintained at 5.8-6
Ec 11-13
55%

Been a while since last update. Still going. Can't believe it's taking so long.
Not sure if it's been the heat that has slowed down growth. Lucky for the cool breaks and inconsistent weather :hmmmm:

Currently experiancing ph drop and ec rising. I keep reducing the ec lower and lower ( by adding water) but it keeps rising.
I reduced ec to .4 and it dropped to 3. The next day it shot up to .7?

Also some of the tops got top heavy and broke so I cut them down. The tricomes where mainly clear 5% cloudy.
Cut a few others yesterday, tricomes where all mainly cloudy.
So far only the OG Kush plants have been partly cropped.

starting flush today.
Res tank. Ph 6.1 then let it drift down to 5.6. This happens over the three waterings.
Ec is .6. Only using bloom.
Next water change no more nutes
Pics.
Week 11 from 12/12 flip.

This grow is all but done.
Placed all into glass jars. Final weight unsure of yet. May do it on Friday. Its not a large harvest by the looks of it.
Tomorrow or the next I make some bubble hash. See how that goes: ) ,

Next lot coming.
These are amnesia haze, blueberry are from seed and purple haze was the clones I took.
