Will be putting 6 of these in the 5 X 5 in a Active Aqua Gro & Flo setup soon.
Have had issues these past year so may need some help.

So I changed this Gro & Flo (ebb/flow) setup just a bit to establish a root system before I go to the traditional ebb/flow setup.
I had a recommendation from @rkymtnman to do a waterfall to help get the root system going.
Traditionally the solution is pumped from the rez to the control bucket and as the bucket fills it fills the grow buckets equally.

Instead of filling from the bottom I am using Rainbird full circle spray emitters and filling the control bucket in reverse.
20221208_180211.jpg

Applying the nute solution from the top takes about 20 minutes to fill the control bucket in reverse. Then the roots sit in the solution for about 40 minutes or so before it is pumped back to the rez.
I am in adjustment mode now setting the depth of the solution in the grow buckets, it is a bit deeper than I want or need.
You can see the depth of the solution in the grow buckets,
20221209_093518.jpg

To reduce the chances of getting algae and other bad stuff I am lowering the depth about 1.5 inches so as not to expose the liquid to the light. That will still submerge the roots in solution.

The solution in the rez, 30 gallons, has an EC of 0.8 and a pH of 5.9. I have the pH stabilizer in the rez but need more roots to stabilize the solution.

Been having issues with my pH meters. I have 3 units, Milwaukee MW 102, HM Digital pH 80 and the Apera pH 20.
I am waiting for some calibration solution for the MW 102. The other two units I calibrated each successfully but when I used both to check my nutrient solution in the rez I got a reading of 6.1 on the Apera pH 20 and reading of 6.9 on the HM pH 20. I decided to recalibrate the two units and the pH 20 calibrated successfully but the pH 80 calibrated to the 7.0 but the 4.0 gave me an Err message.
I will be going into the city tomorrow so will stop by the Hydro shop and pick up some new bottles of pH solution and recalibrate them and see what I get.

Anyway after calibrating the Apera pH I tested my solution and it again read 6.1 so I am going with the meter for now.

Here are the ladies today, four days since last pics. They are beginning to take off, thinking the roots are starting to grow.
Here is the one I questioned on Monday, think I will top this plant as the under growth shows nothing like the apex growth.

Backing off start times, going to go to 8 - 45 minute run times with 2.15 minute drain and rest times. Will go to six start times when I am sure the roots are developed.

I am using the Torus XpH Capsule Model pH stabilizer.
"The XpH Capsule Model is a revolutionary pH stabilizer that automatically regulates the pH of your hydroponics system or reservoir, keeping it in the ideal range for optimal nutrient absorption."
"PH maintenance is an essential factor in any hydroponics setup. Without the plants being naturally rooted in the ground, excess ions build up in the system, creating a toxic environment for the plants. The Automated pH Regulator solves this by removing this charged ion build up, creating the perfect pH environment for your plants."
"In order for your plant’s roots to uptake the nutrients essential for growth, a slightly acidic pH range is required. When the the pH travels outside of this zone you will experience “nutrient lockout” where the plants do not absorb the nutrients properly, stunting the plants growth and disrupting their immune systems."

I began using this during my failed grows earlier this year, but never got the pH to stabilize before my grows failed. The grows did not fail do to pH but I did have to constantly add pH down due to fluctuations. I contacted the friend who recommended this product and told him I was having to constantly adjust the pH and told me it was the same for him until his plants established a root system. He said that now he only has to adjust the pH for a day or so and then he does nothing at all between rez changes. I have added 6 gallons, since I first made the rez, to replenish the solution the plants have drank and during both additions I have not had to add any pH solutions.
Now that I know what I need to do the system is working great, I had to adjust the pH twice during root establishment but now I have not had to add either pH up or down at all for weeks. Even though my plants are very young they were clones so there was a fairly good root system when I put the in the Gro & Flo system.
I will be changing the rez out early next week so will see if I need to make any adjustment with a new rez.
Adding 3 to 6 gallons to the rez this morning, add some nutrients also and will see if I need to adjust the pH. .
I have another 30 gallon for the new rez and adding the nutrients, this will sit for a few days with an air stones. Will pH the solution and let it acclimate and stabilize. When I am comfortable with the solution pump out the old rez, wash the drum and put in the new nutrient solution.

My buddy has some Blueberry clones and may replace the plant on the bottom left, it is just not doing much.

Good morning Walmart shoppers,
Here are a few pics of the progress, I removed the one LSD that was having issues and replaced it with a clone of Blueberry that I got from a friend. This is that LSD that has done very little since transplant. When I removed it from it's bucket it had about 10 single roots about two inches long. Not much more than when I put it in the buckets.
20221217_090642.jpg

And the Blueberry.
20221220_094314.jpg

No transplant shock at all. Happy about that.
Here are the rest of the flock at 10 days since transplanting from cloner to the ebb and flow system.

Just beginning to see roots coming from some of the holes in the upper part of the pots, should be out of the bottom of the pots in a day or so, they are taking off now.

Made up a new 30 gallon batch of solution for the rez, 0.9 EC and will be adding it to the rez tomorrow after I remove the solution in the rez now and clean the barrel. pH is 6.1 without adding any pH up or down, normally when I make a new rez it is at least 6.9 to 7..3.
I will calibrate the pH pin when I add the solution to the rez tomorrow.

I have a question, does anyone use two pH pins for checking their pH. I have been questioning the reliability of my main pin and am waiting for a new probe for my other pin to arrive.

I check my meter in tap water which I know is about pH 7.2 here [milk, vinegar etc have known pH values too]
Since I'm happy anywhere between pH 5.6 - 6.0 near enough is good enough for me

Roy, thanks for the info. I checked the meter in vinegar and the pH was 2.3, then I checked it in 7.01 pH solution and the pH was 7.0. So I am satisfied that the meter is working properly.
I dumped and cleaned the barrel, and refilled with 30 gallons of new solution. EC was 0.9 and the pH was 6.1, so I added about 2 ml of pH down and that took the reading to 5.8, perfect!
This morning the EC reading was still 0.9 and the pH stayed stable at 5.8. Very happy with where my numbers are. Plants seem happy so I am happy.

Very please with the way the Blueberry has taken off, it's only been 6 days since the transplant.

This morning while checking the ladies the reservoir was down just over 3 gallons so I added the 3 gallons back with RO, last added water two days ago. The EC was down to 0.6, so I added 30 ml each of Micro and Bloom which brought the EC back to 0.9, spot on. The pH was perfect at 6.01. The ladies are drinking well and taking up nutrients like they should be. The fan leaves are the size of my hand so I removed a few from each plant the were covering other bud sites. Will do a lite defoliation this coming week in preparation for flowering which should start in a few weeks. I know not everyone is a fan of defoliation but I have been doing it on my plants for years/ Very lite defoliation to a bit over the top, but have always had good yield numbers.
Have had to be careful removing the fan leaves as these plants do not like to be messed with and tend to want to break bud shoots. My buddy who I got the clones from said he broke a lot when working on his plants.

I have not been able to cover the Hydroton do to the emitters I am using and during early growth a little algae began forming on the surface, but now that the leaves are covering the Hydroton the algae has subsided and is non existent now. When I do the lollypop on the plants over the next few weeks I will be able to add a reflective film layer over the surface of the Hydroton and not have to worry about the light causing algae growth.
One thing I have noticed is the growth of the plants is amazing. I thought that I got good growth with my Coco/Perlite grows but this Gro & Flo system is out growing any of my Coco grows at least by half or more. I am astonished every morning when I open the tent.
Another thing I am liking is the way the Blueberry has responded, it was planted from a small clone 10 days after the LSD's went into the pots and has caught up to the other plants in size. Cool Beans!

Y'all have a very Happy New Years! If you go out please be careful.
