I just try to keep them healthy. They speed along pretty good themselves. Good soil, 5 to 7 gallons will let them grow to their potential I think. When they get a little bigger they thrive on wet/dry cycles. Water them completely then let them dry out. A lot, before you water again. The watering link in my sig. below explains good watering habits. An auto link too that i use to understand them.
