Using aspirin mixed with water as a rooting aid was popular here and on other Cannabis growing message boards years and years ago. Popular with those who were looking for natural alternatives to store bought mass produced rooting aids or anything that promoted faster root growth.I am trying to grow a plant from the seed and it is very young right now. Is it ok to give it aspirin to speed up the process or is it too early?
You did not mention if you were growing in a natural soil or something like a coco coir mix. As far as a natural soil goes it does seem to be OK as long as you follow the recommended amount of aspirin to water. That means looking up and reading messages from 8 or more years ago since I have not noticed it coming up very often since.
This long-ago member brings up one of the popular alternatives to aspirin from way back...
Soaking willow bark and leaves in water will release the "salicin" found in that plant material. This "salicin" is the natural form of "Acetylsalicylic acid" which is the man-made ingredient that is aspirin.Water soaked in willow bark or wood (which is a ingredient in aspirin) is also used as rooting hormone for clippings to make clones.
In the long run it is better to use any of the often mentioned fertilizers at the recommended amounts and frequency if you are new to the game of gardening and especially new at Cannabis growing.
