Avatar?

i see some people have avatars on their home page....how does one upload an avatar? i've tried to figure it out for a week now....
i can be bit of a dumbass when it comes to this computering stuff

Go to the User CP tab and click on the user control panel then on the left side you will see edit avatar.

What happened to all the avatars? Mine was missing when I logged on, and when I go to the avatar selection page they're all missing.
