This is my 2nd legal medical grow attempt. My 1st grow was an autoflower Candy Cane from Crop King Seeds in soil to see if i could do it. Well, let's just say ... I was able to get to harvest without killing it, but i didn't use any nutrients, municipal tap water that wasn't PH'd (later found out my water was a PH of 8.2) and was using 150W HPS in a 2x2x6 tent. From 2 plants, I ended up with sickly plants and 1/2 oz of airy bud.
So this is my journal for my 2nd attempt. I've taken the learning from this site and my first attempt and totally changed my approach. I got all the things I didn't have on the first grow. PH Pen, EC tester, switched to Coco, Nutrients, better lights 150HPS to 600W LED, handheld microscope for trich viewing.. I'm running the lights in Veg at 18/6 and 12/12 in flower.
What strain is it? Purple Kush(Fem) and White Widow(Fem) by Crop King Seeds
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? PK Hybrid 75% Indica and WW Hybrid 60% Indica
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? 1 PK and 2 WW in flower. 2 PK clones in veg
If in Veg... For how long? the 2 PK clones have been in veg for 2.5 months since cloning
If in Flower stage... For how long? 1 PK and 2 WW are at Day 25
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Tent? 2x2x6 Veg and 2.5x4x7 Flower
Soil or Hydro? Coco Coir
what is in your mix? Botanicare Coco and Perlite (75/25)
What size pot? 3 Gallon SmartPot
Size of light? 250W HPS in Veg and MARS II 1200 (500-600Watts)
Is it aircooled? Yes
Temp of Room/cab? 22C-25C (72F-77F) Lights ON / 16C-19C (61F-66F) Lights Off
RH of Room/cab? 30% in Veg tent (Too Low!) and 45-52% in Flower tent
PH of media or res? 5.6-5.8 Veg and 5.8-6.2 Flower
Any Pests ? None detected.
How often are you watering? 1 X a day with 10% runoff
Type and strength of ferts used? Green Planet Nutrients Veg/Flower take it and grow kit, Terpinator, RAW nutrients of Kelp/B-Vitamins/Silica/Cane Molasses and extra CalMag (50%more) PH'd at 5.8 and 950PPM Veg and PH'd to 6-6.2 and 1200PPM
My biggest challenges on this attempt:
- Low Humidty in Veg phase
- PH Pen calibration was off in Veg with a real 4.8 PH when the pen indicated 5.8PH - I now recalibrate weekly
- I vegged from Dec 29 to March 29 and topped 2X to get 8 symmetrical branches but outgrew my first tent a week ago as the top of the buds had stretched to within 10 inches of the LED and too bushy and cramped
I now have my 3 girls in the big flower tent with the LED light at 24" above the top of the buds. Before i flipped them in to flower I removed the lower 1/3 of all leaves.
Yesterday I very selectively removed about 50% of the biggest fan leaves of each girl to let the light penetrate through to all buds and increase air flow.
My Goals:
- Yield: MAX Possible - from twice topped/8 evenly branched colas on 4 girls and 1 FIMed girl
- Hoping to max out the terpenes and trichs with Terpinator
- 8 Week flowering, but i want 70/30 or 60/40 mix of cloudy/amber trichs - i prefer the couch lock effect. So on Day 50 we'll see how the trichs are doing and then i'll decide on the possible harvest date. Aiming for Day 60, but it all depends on how amber they will be.
