How much soil will I need for 10 gallons?

One cubic foot of soil is roughly 6.5 gallons. Now this is just a quick answer, it will vary depending on type of soil and how much you pack it in.

I love you Mary Jane

The only 3.8 cu-ft. bags I've seen are "bales" of Promix (about 60-70 lbs.). They are compressed and yield enough to fill 40+ "trade" gallons of pots.
If you can, get Promix HP with Myco. The "HP" has perlite and no vermiculite so it drains better. The myco is beneficial if you grow in live soil. It won't hurt anything if you prefer a sterile grow.

1 cubic foot = 7.48 US gallons.
Nursery pots are typically sold in "trade gallons". There is no set standard and they vary a lot, but in my experience, trade gallons are roughly 75% of a true gallon.

Cool. Appreciate the responses.

I'm growing some autos and reading atrains journal, he went with the bx, and had amazing results.

As a new grower be VERY careful of your watering technique - especially if using BX. :thumb:
