How should I run my lights dimmer knob?

Makes the point of having a dimmer knob pretty much pointless then
I would keep the height of the light fixed.
Dependent of the stage of growth, you could start at 50% power and slowly ramp it up as the plants start to flower.
Keeping in mind of course how the plants are responding.
Ideally these types of LEDs are meant to be run at 3/4 power
At that stage, you could inch them a little closer to the top of the canopy
Again, dependent on how the plants react.

Agreed.

I find my girls enjoy all the power I can give them quite soon after they are in a pot. I also find some girls are taller than others so if I'm turning it down for one, I'm turning it way down for her little sister.

I don't use my dimmers is maybe more how I should put it. I either raise/lower the light or raise the plants that need more reach...who am I kidding my canopy is never even!

I wonder if the effect is the same upon the footprint of illumination
When you either dim the light or lift it higher.......
No clue lol
Well a bit of a clue
When you lift the fixture, you're now spreading the light in a more diffused application.
If you, on the other hand dim the power then the footprint of illumination remains the same
Whether one is better than the other is where I have no clue ;)
