Is a reflective tint necessary

I am doing my first grow inside a 4 x 4 tent with mylar interior walls. I'm having an issue with height so I am thinking about removing the tent from the room and just using the room itself as a grow space. Do you think me not having mylar reflective walls will affect the grow?

Flat white paint reflects as well as the mylar, lack of the tent will cause smell and light issues more than anything else IMHO, as harder to seal a room as not as much of a "contained space". But I've never grown in a tent, maybe someone here will chime in if they have done both and if they noticed any difference.
