I'm just getting ready to setup a couple of 1000w setups for vegging some youngsters. Is there any difference in brands of MH bulbs? and when I get ready to start the flower stage any recommendations for HPS bulbs?

I believe there is a diff in the brand of bulbs.
I like to use Digilux MH & White Halo MH. Those are the 2 brand that I found to be very consist.
For the 1000W HPS, Im starting to use White Halo 1000W HPS. I saw a big difference in my plants. My friend at my local hydro store turned me on to them. I did a review on youtube on them. Check it out!

Check out USHIO....I am really happy with mine..both MH and HPS....MH has an extremely high blue output with a good amount of red...(almost rivals a HPS), and the HPS has quite a bit of added blue...similar to most lower end MH's... Great bulbs!!
You can also look up the Spectrum chart's for each of the bulb's and compare...that's what I did for choosing mine... Ushio MH seemed to be the highest intensities of blue that I found... Also Ceramic metal halides are the closest to sunlight/cfl spectrum you will find out of HID lighting...
