The shorter plant has filled out nicely!

The two taller plants are going OK but a much more stretched out and spindly... bit worried they'll produce a lot of stems but we'll see how it goes.

Looking real good Jay! That shot of the cola... that thing is gonna be completed stacked with bud. :high-five: :passitleft:

Thanks! That cola is about 18" long from the tip to the lowest bud... and all 10 colas are almost identical  She's going to be a monster I think, she seems to be fattening up more than the other two which are a little bit spindly. Definitely easier to work with too because she's not as tall. That being said the spindly ones are starting to fill out as well, but there's still a lot of stemmy space between each flower, whereas all the flowers are together on the short girl.

They're changing every day too which is fun to watch, the white parts of the flowers are starting to change colour and I can see the trichomes growing and changing daily.

Home stretch now :D

The girls seem to have stopped growing for now.. at least in height and 'fatness,' although the little white hairs are starting to turn red on the shorter plant. Interestingly, the two plants that stretched hard still have almost 100% white hairs, there are almost no red hairs on them yet.

I started trying to photograph the trichomes with a jeweller's loupe, but with my big phone and small tent just found it a bit too tight. The depth of field is extremely shallow this way as well, so it's quite hard to focus... best I could do was this:

Shot without the jeweller's loupe isn't as close, but is much clearer due to the deeper DOF and it being easier to hold steady...

The takeaway from these two photos is that some trichomes seem to be milky in the tips, but I don't see any ambers yet.. would appreciate some input though as I'm not really 100% sure what I'm looking at!

UPDATE! Turns out the poor photography was 100% user error.. I rigged the loupe up so it was held to the phone much more solidly, and managed to get this:

If you look closely approximately 10-20% of the trichomes seem to have gone amber, at first I thought it was reflection of the red hairs but you can see it in places far from the red hairs so I don't think it is.

None of the leaves on any plant have started to yellow, I was expecting that to happen but haven't seen it. I'm going to go and photo the other plants now, considering their hairs haven't gone red I'm expecting to see less mature trichomes. EDIT: couldn't get a clear enough shot from the other two plants to post, but got one clear enough to see that their trichomes are definitely not into the amber stage yet.

Any estimate on when she could be ready? Better start planning for a day or two off work :)

Hey Jay! Awesome trichome shots! It's looking mostly clear to me on your last update. Can you upload a whole picture of a flower or the whole plants so we can get a better idea of where you're at? :high-five:

Thanks! I think you're right, I had a closer look and I'd probably say they're mostly clear with maybe 10% ambers. I gave them a flush today and took some pics of the short fat plant, here you go:

These pics aren't great, sorry.. they were taken under the room light which is pretty weak. I'm going to make something up to take reliably good trich photos, I should be able to get better close-ups in the next few days. The one I got a week or so ago was a bit of a lucky one, I've tried to get similar ones and they haven't come out quite as good.. hand-holding at such a short focal length is almost impossible though so I'll rig up a tripod or monopod to hold my phone and that should make it easy.

The fan leaves still aren't yellowing significantly yet, although there were one or two dead leaves on a couple of the plants but I think they may have just been damaged last flush. I *think* there is some yellowing starting from the bottom of the plants, but that could also just be a trick of the light.

I've noticed in the past week that the buds themselves have really fattened up, there's a couple of top ones on the taller plants that are about as fat as my forearm o_O Like this one:

Apart from that I'm not really sure what I should be looking for, any other tips?

Cheers

Wow brother she looks absolutely amazing! Her colas have filled out really well and her flowers are covered in trichomes! You are going to have an awesome harvest. My first couple harvests were nothing near to this so you can be real proud! :high-five: :passitleft:

Right now not much - you've done all the hard work and they're in cruise control now. Just keep your eye on them and keep checking the trichomes daily. I'd be looking for any new fresh white pistils pushing late now to give you some extra weight, once that slows down i personally look for about 70% cloudy and 30% amber on the nugs not the sugar leaves - i do not mind more amber though.

Thanks man! When I decide to do something properly I usually get obsessive about it, and with the money I put into the equipment I decided to work my ass off to make sure this went as perfectly as possible. The way the three plants stretched differently irritates my obsessiveness but I think I know why they did that and I should be able to create three short ones next time.

OK that white pistil info is good, thanks! The two taller plants are still heavily covered in white pistils, those are the ones that officially started their veg phase a week after the short plant so it seems they're about a week behind overall. The short plant's hairs have mostly gone red now, but I'll check properly tonight.

I don't really have a choice but to harvest all at once (one tent and nowhere else to dry the buds) so I think I'll wait until I'm confident the two tall ones are ready and harvest the lot. This'll probably mean the short plant will be about a week over-ripe, but that's ok - I'll take close up photos of both at harvest and I'll label everything carefully, that way when I'm done I'll be able to differentiate them if there's a difference in the smoke.

Just got a hold of my supplies for washing the buds and am heading to the hardware store to get a nice little set of secateurs to cut the stems... I'm pretty much ready to go, just playing the waiting game now! At the moment I'm working on harvesting next weekend (in 10 days time) but that's just based on the GH feed chart and the breeder's website.. I'll post up more photos over those 10 days and see what you guys think, if they need to wait another week or two that's ok :thumb:

Judging by these they're definitely still in the clear-to-cloudy phase of trichomes, there's a few that have an amber tinge but not many.
