LED Dinafem OG Kush SCROG Auto Not Quite So Auto

<random thought> Sometimes doing a Grow Journal seems like your talking to yourself, but it's OK I've done a few of these and I also like to LURK as well so I understand. It's all about the learning(if someone grasps JUST one thing from reading this journal, my job is DONE) and of course the PICTURES. The first pics of the purple GDP is amazing looking in person. For some of us... Bud photos are like Porn to others... I just can't get enough. <random thought> :laughtwo:

Alrighty then, this thing has ended on 7/21/20 Day 72 (2 in darkness) and has been a pleasure. She has been drying for 3 days and I'm hoping to jar them Day 6 since there not HUGE colas or anything, just nice and even buds all around. They won't be dry enough to smoke, but plenty dry to put in jars and control them for about two months or so(and not get wet in the jar putting them in to early from moisture in the middle of the buds). I go the long route and my buds are usually nice by 2 months and even better by the 3rd or 4th month into cure. I'm fortunate and blessed to have a back log of cannabis to be able to slow play the cure. It is worth the wait. Hopefully one day we ALL can have our own crops and enjoy the fruits of our labor and passion for the lifestyle. :meditate:

I took a ton of pics before I chopped her down and washed the buds and straight to hang dry. I'm hoping Monday morning or evening to put her in jars and start burpin' the babies. :laughtwo:

I'll get those pictures up ASAP, she is going to be Wonderful Smoke. :passitleft:

Here is the pictures as promised right before cutting, washing and hanging. Today is Day 4 of drying and still fairly wet, but feeling some dryness so right on schedule for 5.5 to 6 days of dry then to the jars for the rest of the slow dry/cure process. Usually plants lose there smell around day 3 or4 of drying(for a little while), NOT this momma, still stinks like KUSH. I know this wasn't a step by step Grow Journal, but I felt like sharing the story of this plant and ending with these results is phenomenal. Everyone loves a comeback(plant) and I'm no exception. I really enjoyed turning her around and ending with a beautiful bouquet of flowers is always a pleasure. There were a ton of branches in there, still had a few dead leaves with the foliage density and how close all the buds were. Once these go in the jar, IT'S VICTORY!!! Enjoy! :Namaste:

It may take a minute to load the page, but a photo frenzy is always in order at the END.

BONUS Footage... I may have to REVeg this GDP 5 armed mutant. She is SO beautiful, and has been purple(almost black) for weeks now. I usually don't get attached to a plant this BAD, but DAMN she is FINE. Enjoy!! :yummy:

Day 59 Bloom

Alright everyone, I had a chance to debone the OGK last night and throw them in jars. She took a full 2 half gallon jars, it's an easy quarter pounder, if I had to guess, 130ish grams. I've never cracked a gram per watt with this light, and it's not going to happen unless a SOG or something which I've been down that road once(wait twice) and I'm good(thinning and cleaning 12-16 plants per 1k HPS in a 4 light setup is TIME consuming). Anyway, still a nice yield for a budget light that puts out around 150 watts(153 the last time I tested and consistent). Anyway, 2x2 is shutdown and I'll have to clean her out when I get a chance. Here is a few shots of Day 6 dry/cure process. She ended up going 5.5 days before the jars, which is consistent with previous data and size of the flowers. In jars for 12 hours and no moisture surfacing the outside of the buds at all. Slight hardness with a tiny bit of sponginess, there right on track and STINK already. She is a NEVER stop smelling strain for SURE. Enjoy!

Untrimmed Buds and Frosty!! Small bud that was on the top.

You can't see my face but there's a big smile on it and stayed there through this whole journal. You do some amazing work with your growing method. That scrog was beautiful. Hell, everything you grow is beautiful. Your foliar routine produces some amazing results. I'm taking notes. Your journal is a great tool for me. You did an excellent job explaining your way of doing things. I thoroughly enjoyed every pic and text. Thanks for sharing this.
You mentioned something in the first opening statement. Something about washing???? I'm not understanding what that is. Could you explain? Please...lol.
Again, awesome journal. I'm going to work my way through all your grows. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I wash the buds directly after harvesting with lemon(I've used lime before same result) juice and baking soda. I've been doing so for roughly 5 years maybe longer. It makes a difference in end product whether that's dry herb smoking/vaping or Rosin dabs. I didn't invent bud washing or anything.

I appreciate the sentiment friend, I've went through most of my grows just logging data(old paper school style journals)_and not really sharing new found results and or experiments to get where I'm at currently. I realized that 5-6 years ago, I was on the cusp of superior quality cannabis in the 12 brix range(Nice product), a bit higher Outside. Once I dialed in the HP Promix with my organics that I was already used to using(fish bone meal crab, neem seed etc), along with mineralizing the soil with rock dusts(I've been using glacial rock dust for a long time) then I eventually added calcium carbonate, gypsum, azomite, etc... Once I took the foliar spray plunge, it's been a NEVER look back situation and WHY haven't I been doing this. All this being said, I will forever be a student of the game we all love to PLAY. :Namaste:

About this washing. You have certainly spiked my interest. You mention the items used but I'm interested in learn how. If you don't mind. Is there any write up on this you can link? I'd really appreciate it.
This is all a catch up game for me. I grew from 2000-07 and had to abruptly stop. That's a whole different story..lol. Anyways, I learned from some old timers like bog (bushy old grower), Gypsy Nirvana, Kristy buckets, and a slew of others. I was a mod at a cutting edge forum until it shut down. Sadly all that data disappeared. I read my ass off on this forum. Some stuff I remember but 13yrs out of the game leaves man behind. So much new stuff and nutrients have evolved tenfold. I used to grow in peat, Coco, dwc. Just whatever I wanted for a particular grow. I've only had maybe one soil grow until now. It was the cheapest route I had. I sunk to much money into the greenhouse. Then I got waymore females then I bargained for. I just can't kill a lady..lol. I've not grown at this level in years but I'm holding my own so far with the help of these forums.
I like your style and definitely appreciate the info. Your one hell of a grower.

Old link to check out, really good info here. Bud Washing
Well, I'm sold. That makes perfect sense to me. Sounds odd and I can see why some questions it. But when so many have done it and all have positive reports it's definitely got worth. I see doc has tweaked his method a little since the original by adding h2O2 and an extra rinse bucket. I saw some go further and use hot water in one bucket. Do you do that? Thanks for sharing that. I'm super anxious to try it now. Is it October yet?

I know right, I have some Outdoor ladies KILLIN' it right now almost 5 foot tall(just as wide) and haven't flipped yet. I can tell though they are transitioning to bloom with the lateral nodes/branches getting closer together and building. The next two weeks or so you watch them turn into BUSHES. Back on track, I use HOT tap water for my wash bucket, BUT the reason I do this is by the time I prep everything, take a few vape rips, the water is on the WARM side of things not HOT straight to washing situation. I've never tried h202, but I have used two big round laundry totes or my 32 gallon garbage can's I cook soil with for 2 cold water rinses if I have a BIG amount to wash. Trust me, I've let buds sit in the water for awhile and NO issues. You aren't doing anything wrong since they are freshly chopped and buds are wet anyway(buds SHRINK when drying).

The OGK buds are 9 days dry, and I grabbed a couple popcorn buds to vape, definitely taste the Kush immediately and the dry was spot on at 5.5 days. I'll let her cure and be patient since I have other stuff that is further down the cycle.

Yeah, those outdoor girls are going to look like cedar trees soon. I'd love to have an outdoor open plot. I've got plenty of space here but my health limits a lot of things. It took me a long time to construct that gh do to a severe COPD flare up which sidelined me for 6 month after two days in the hospital. I'd don't smoke much but I do like edibles. Cannabis helps my breathing a lot with edibles. Hence the reason I've started growing again. Only roughly 2.5 left to go.

Noticed one of my widows is budding. Oddly though nothing else is. Not even her sisters. Never had that happen. I mean she looks a week into flowering. I spent 30 minutes search the others but nothing. But, I'm sure they will soon.

post me some cured budshots so I can drool. And thank you for sharing that washing method. That will make it much cleaner for me. Later bro

Some bonus footage of the Outdoor endeavors. One of these years I'm going to do an Outdoor Journal... I just realized I haven't done one since I was on another site that was closed down MANY years ago. There is six big plants and two small plants. The small ones were added LATE. Enjoy!

I had to kink a few stubborn branches that didn't want to slow down. I also tied a few main tops to the fence(5 foot for reference) as an anchor point and to spread out the middle of the plant to allow more light in the center. I need to put in more work with bamboo poles real soon, but too much to do this morning.

Some bonus footage of the Purple/Bronze GDP plant that I'm currently re-vegging for clones hopefully. She already tastes SUPER fruity and that's from a small popcorn bud that was dried in 4 days for testing. Enjoy!

She went 6 days hanging, we had a decent heat wave the last few days of drying so I pulled a little early to control the moisture in the jars at this point. The dried up fans with no frost had little yellow stripes with the dark purple leaves. REALLY cool looking and FROSTY. Shout out to the breeder(Ken GDP) NO doubt.

AND... The Pictures just KEEP appearing! :circle-of-love:

Second GDP pheno that at one time looked like Purple Urkle and went all foxtails(not that I care) on me. STILL a very frosty pheno and I can't wait to see how she is. Sharing is caring and pictures ALWAYS! Enjoy!!

Master Kush 18" tall, Purple GDP Pheno 19" tall, and the GDP2 Foxtail pheno was 20". Small plants and HUGE buds. I am however going back to 2 plants per 2x2 area. 2 plants gave me 6 jars, and 3 plants gave me 6 half gallon jars. Either way, the two plants were easier and more efficient in my experience and I was able to spread the middle out more with 2 versus 3.
