Greetings everyone at
I'm so excited to finally get the chance to post a grow of my own after all of this lurking I've been doing. For months I've been creeping through the forests of your grow-ops and peeking in from behind the stinky, sticky, shiny bushes watching the Masters at work and taking careful notes. So after much careful consideration and after my last bag of KB that was purchased having more stems and seeds than buds I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands and start trying to do my part to overgrow the government.
Just a little bit about me personally: I've been a cannabis user for years and use marijuana medicinally to help relieve chronic pain from a back injury. Also I like the anti-stress/anxiety aspect and it's enjoyable to boot. So often I feel like medical patients are afraid to admit that they also enjoy smoking marijuana because of the social stigma attached to smoking pot. It's ok to have a medicine that has side effects we don't hate! That's one of the reasons I support recreational legalization as well... But I digress.
I am a complete MJ Grow virgin but I have tended a small vegetable garden before and while it did produce edible items it wasn't anything to send in pictures of to Home & Garden magazine. I've done a shite load of research and purchased a small library of grow books in preparation for this endeavor but I realize that there is no substitute for hands on experience. The growers here at 420mag are really the reason I decided to make this my virtual home for my own grow. *** Special shout out to Stevehman, Bassman59, Magic Beans and a few others for giving me the confidence to give LEDs a try***
So with that in mind any suggestions, comments, kudos, nifty tips, constructive criticism, cat calls, and/or silent stalking is encouraged and welcomed. Like I said before this is my first grow so I'm really anxious to get this right the first time and learn from my mistakes quickly (hopefully I'll sidestep a few mishaps as well).
What strain is it? Feminized Lemon Skunk from Green House Seed Company
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? Hybrid
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? Veg
If in Veg: 9 days old, 11/22/11 DOB
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? Hydro in rockwool starter plug
Nutrients: For now just AN Sensigrow A+B and AN B-52
Size of light? Currently the plant is under 2 x 2' 24w T-5 Fluorescent fixture.
Is it aircooled? The 4" inline fan matched with a carbon filter will be ensuring good air movement and circulation. It is yet to be installed.
Temp of Room/cab? 73 F
RH of Room/cab? 40%
PH of media or res? 5.6
Any Pests ? NO!!!!! None that I know of and I go over her daily in detail. I will be vigilant in my defense of my precious.
How often are you watering? Every day. Twice.
Type and strength of ferts used? Currently she is getting a twice daily watering of 100 ml of 20% strength solution of AN Sensigrow A+B and B-52 as recommended by the online AN Nutrient Calculator. The excess nutrients are poured off after each watering.
The plan so far is to continue in a vegetative state under a 90w LED UFO unit that is being shipped from an unnamed company and should be arriving before the end of next week. The name of the company isn't really that secret it's just that given the intense competition in the LED market and the many companies that are untested in online grows by REAL people... I just don't want to give a company that I haven't actually tried before any free advertisement just yet. After 3 or 4 more weeks of careful tending and pruning I'm hoping to create a bonsai mother to take the first 2 clones from, to start a SCROG in the stealth flowering cabinet pictured below that's been slightly modified and lined in Mylar. The cabinet has a footprint of a little over 4 feet so I think 4 plants as a final goal is reasonable.
At that time the Mother will be moved to a separate veg area that as of yet had not been constructed, there are still some slight cosmetic defects that will be addressed on the current stealth box as well. An additional LED lamp will be purchased mid-flower of the first batch of clones and hopefully that will allow me to stagger harvests a little for a more consistent flow of medication.
<smoke break>
Wow... That got really long quickly. Haha, Sorry guys! I'll try to keep future posts more reasonable in length. Just had to set the mood, ya' dig? Updates will be posted every few days or for major events. Thanks for stopping by!
And now I'll make my escape with a flash of pictures and a flick of my cape.
