NBT: First Grow Bagseeds Outdoor

Well, its been a while since I've updated so I figure I should while I have a few minutes. My first harvest from UK1 is now dry and in 2 jars. Total when jarred was about 18g. I over dried it a bit before I put it in jars so I dont think itll lose more weight. After taking that chunk of UK1, the remaining plant started to dry so I decided to harvest it even though the lower buds are smaller. At least the trim and after partial harvest, most of the bottoms hairs were brown. UK2 had about 20% amber but the push was on to free up the light for the tomato plants. I missed a pic before lights out but they're getting out of hand and needed 16/8 light back. They're all over 5 feet tall and getting out of hand and have lots of flowers popping or about to so it was time to try to get them to bare fruit again. They dont even fit under that same rack! I had to improvise with the light. I'll snap a pic soon of their new home and post it. Anyway on to the good stuff!

The rest of UK1 and all of UK2 have been drying for about 24 hours now. Heres some pics taken in the hall since the light went out a couple minutes after I went in. Unfortunately the same room is the only place I have to dry right now. Humidity is about 54% which the tomatoes are enjoying instead of the usual 45ish% haha. A fan is blowing on the buds on low and dehumidifier pointing away from them. I didn't wet weigh them like the first partial harvest but I did a fairly thorough wet trim. Enough that I don't think I will again since it's just personal anyway. Just out of curiosity I grabbed the biggest cola hanging and after 24 hours of drying it still weighs 30g. That makes me pumped :slide:

Since the buds are just thrown onto hangers, UK1 is darker and UK2 is light green. Here's the pics!

There are a total of 16 branches drying. The bottom picture, right side is the 30g cola. Heres a couple close ups.

To trim, I put them all on a cookie sheet and went to town on the couch while watching tv. Thank God for disposable gloves as man it was sticky! Got some scissor hash and a couple paper bags with some shake. And the cookie sheet was a good one of my wife and even after 2 thorough washes with dish soap and lemon juice, it still smells like weed!! I designated it the weed cookie sheet after we make weed butter lol

The stuff I have bottled, I dipped into a couple times. It's been drying for a few days and now in the bottle for a few days. Ive been burping them about 5 or more times a day. It's not near done curing and I think I over dried it a bit before bottling but it certainly gets the job done, though still a bit harsh. Definitely a different taste. And still very sticky! Even though it's so dry, once cut and sitting in the cup it clumps back up then won't come out. But can sticky really be a complaint? Haha

That's all I have for tonight. I just proofread this and repeated myself a few times but meh. Am stoned and working on another bowl so call it what it is for tonight. Brain is mush after 13 hours of work anyway. Night everyone!

Great harvest brother! The hanging buds look great!
It’s funny.. their at the point of their life where I don’t know if I should still call them colas, because they’re still drying and on the branches. or buds, because there cut off the plant, and well on there way to being buds!

Bahaha its funny you should mention that... I went behind myself a few times and changed bud to cola before I posted.. I figured I'd call it so until I remove them from the stem.. then they're magically buds? Hey I dunno man... lol now that its morning and I'm not stoned.. I'm almost afraid to go back and read my post

And thanks for the kind words BL! They do look pretty tasty. Can't wait to try them cured and to try UK2 as I haven't had a taste yet. I'll be smoking UK1 starting tonight as I have maybe .2g left from my guy and already told him I wouldn't be back until it's gone haha and also sent him off with a taste test he said he'd finish curing and give me a smoke report for my first try.

I forgot to mention in my main post... those 3 bulbs my wife ordered came in. What disappointment. She didn't notice when she ordered them that the socket size was E14, not E26 like a standard bulb. So now were trying to find converters locally. I found them online but didn't want to wait more. Was hoping to use these bulbs to veg some seeds. She wants bell peppers and I want more girls now that it's almost over. Was a sad day to chop them. I didn't hesitate with UK1 since it was drying but I stared and hummed and haw'd at UK2 probably 15 minutes before I started cutting lol

I did such a great job on these girls, I've got the go ahead to spend on the Mars TS2000 after Christmas is paid says the wife. Been tossing around the idea of which to get.. the TSL-2000 or the TSW-2000 (long rectangle or square footprint) but leaning more towards square as its rated for flowering a slightly larger sq ft area even though the fixtures have the same amount of LEDs. The PPFD is a bit lower but still almost twice the current light I believe so hopefully it'll offer better penetration and maybe can use these led bulbs she ordered to help along. Either way, I think itll be enough coverage that I can comfortably run 4 at the same size as last round.. or 9 smaller ones as 3x3 but probably go 4 larger as I'd like to stay within the legal limit of 4.

My wife also said she really wants to buy the seeds this round so we know what were getting but I am going to play it by ear. I know what I'm after buzz wise but I want flavor.. TBH I would love to find some Afghan like I used to smoke as a teen. But ultimately, I'll see if I can find something that interests me and if not, I have a different batch of bagseed to take from that I know will be a different strain then last batch. My best friend had a guy who grew Afghan specifically for him but was cloning and instead of holding a mother, cloned each new gen and now after years of generations of clones, he said the smoke just isn't the same and so stopped buying. Maybe some day I can be his supplier haha though hes picky. He usually buys QP to HP at a time (most of the crop his friend would grow) and goes till its gone.

Anyways enough rambling. Still have to finish getting ready for work. Supposed to leave in 20 minutes. Have a great day everyone!

Hey everyone!

Back with a quick update tonight. After a few days checking the drying plants, the rest of UK1 was ready to be bottled up. Ended up with 6 jars total. First 2 had 18.3g between the two. The last 4 bottles I completed today. 10g x3 and 9.2g x1. Add my 18.3g initial and 39.2g today, plus 1g I gave to my "guy" for a taste test, I yielded 2 oz, 2.5g (58.5 grams) dry and trimmed from UK1.

I can honestly say I was hoping for a bit more.. like 3 oz from UK1 but it's not a huge deal. The cost to buy my yield from UK1 locally vs what I spent on supplies; I've almost broke even without considering what I'll get from UK2 and now have the ability grow what I want with only nutes needing replenishing before the end of another cycle.

...24 hours later

Hey guys.. so I did an update last night and apparently failed to hit post so this is sort of a double and final post.

***ADMINS please feel free to move this journal to the completed section.***

It's been a long road for this first timer and a heck of a ride haha. Sad to see this journal come to an end. My final weight from UK2 dryed and in jars is 41g. Total between UK1 and 2 is 99.5g trimmed, dry. Not bad for first go.

Plants were started outside and brought in 2 weeks before veg cycle ended and put under a Mars Hydro TS-1000. Flower cycle was completed under this light. Efficacy as per Mars should be roughly 1.5g/w. Even with all the mistakes and less than ideal conditions during the transition from the shed to the house, I am about 1.0g/w (light rated 150watts). @SmokeSara your lights are great! I might try to buy another during your black Friday sales coming soon. Hopefully the TSW-2000!!

Heres some pics of the finished product. Top 3 jars are UK2, bottom ones including half jar (currently smoking from jar) are UK1.

As promised, a couple pics of the tomatoes now basking in the glow of the Mars light until either a new grow starts or I get a new light. Whichever first.

So everyone knows.. these are supposed to be bush tomatoes. And their obscure height the product of stretching under poor lighting after being brought indoors at the end of the grow cycle outside. They are now flowering again like crazy and on course to yield twice the tomatoes they did the first time around! Two cages each for support and they're all enough they could use a third! Well, I could go on but it's not about tomatoes lmao. I wish everyone good luck on their current and future grows and thank everyone who helped and made this successful grow possible! Great job and a great community to be a part of!

Now that I don't have my own thread to update for now, I'll lurk around others' threads and feel free to PM me!

Now.. puff puff pass!! :passitleft:

Great update NBT!
it’s been a fun ride I do say!
congrats on your harvest! Nothing to be ashamed of at all! You’ve done a great job!

good luck with your side gig of selling tomatoes!;)
Thanks BLS! Definitely could have gone worse or been worse quality smoke. No complaints overall I guess!

Tomatoes is mostly the wifes thing I just set it up for her. She tends to them most days. Shes not as obsessive over them like I was the girls lmao. Keep in touch via DM BLS! I'll pop by your threads too of course!

Thanks for all the kind words and support!

Congratulations on your harvest!

Have a wonderful time enjoying the fruits of your labor!
And your tomatoes!

Mmm, new camera so.. of course.. bud porn!

Just got the camera yesterday so learning how to use it. Hopefully pics will get better with time. Took a few and picked the best to post. Early Xmas gift but I don’t get the telephoto lense until Christmas which should do even better macro shots from my understanding.

Hope everyones holidays are going well! Merry Christmas everyone!

merry Christmas!!
Maybe, who knows! Lol

It was hard to keep warm last week but a warm front is rolling in today so looking up which makes me happy as working in NS again this weekend. Hopefully still have a white Christmas though. That's the only time I care about snow.

Merry Christmas to you too!

@Old Salt is from NS, maybe you’ve been in his neighborhood and not even known! Lol!

yeah man! Put that camera to work and start entering some contests!! :thumb: I usually enter something into Photo OTM every month just for kicks and giggles. Some great photos up there. Yours has potential! And this months contest is still open!:yummy:
