Spalding’s Outdoor AutoFlower Soil Grow In Florida

Well boys n girls, my first harvest is under my belt. I checked the trichs this evening on my Amnesia Haze and I saw the starting of amber in the main calyx so I went ahead and chopped her.

About an hour before I chopped her down, I filled my four 5 gallon buckets in preparation for the wash. Here’s what I did:

1st bucket: 4gal h2O & 1gal h2O2

2nd bucket: 5gal h2O rinse

3rd bucket: 4 1/2gal h2O, 1cup baking soda, 1cup lemon juice

4th bucket: 5gal h2O rinse

5th bucket: 3gal RO water rinse

Everything went very well in the wash, and then I proceeded to trim them and then place in my custom made box. Currently temp is 72* and RH is 45%. They will be drying in my dark guest bedroom the next few days, then into the mason jars for the cure :)

Looks good. I usually dry mine out with the whole plant hung upside down in a closet. For 2 weeks. Then I jar them. That way I don't have to worry about mold. I've never heard of washing them? I'd be afraid of losing potency.

A far cry from the 2 joints you were hoping for.:cheer:

Bud washing is a thing! All the cool kids and many of the top growers here are doing it, and if water melted trichomes then smoking cannabis would never have been a thing for the last few thousand years :).

Great harvest Spalding! Buds look great and just be careful they don't dry too quickly. Slower (without molding) is best. It can't be that dry in Florida so open a window and let the damp air in :thumb:.

Wow hadn’t even realized it’s be almost 3 weeks since I’ve posted. All is well here in the sunshine state and my girls are doing great. I feel I’m a week or two away from harvesting Northern Lights and Sour Diesel, and Jack Herer is doing very well and I would say is mid-flower right now. I’ve just been watering when necessary and feeding with every watering.

I’ve trimmed some fan leaves and some I couldn’t get the whole leaf so that’s why there’s some discolored ones on Sour Diesel...the buds are so damn dense and tight it’s hard to even get to a full leaf, pretty cool :)

Here’s some pics from a couple days ago...hope y’all are doing well! Cheers friends

Something weird has happened to a bud on my Jack herer plant. I got home from work and noticed this...looks like the stem either rotted or got broke somehow outside? Does anybody have any guesses? @InTheShed

Looks more like fusarium mold than budrot to me on that stem, but I can't be sure from the pics.

It's a fungus that grows in the soil and rots the plant one branch at time. It took down my Gold Leaf and a Sour G last year.

If the rest of the plant is close to harvest, throw that branch out and cut the rest down before it's all gone.

The other thing you can try is watering with straight 3% H2O2 and see if that will delay it. It definitely won't cure it.

After harvest, toss the soil and bleach the pot.

There is a product I just learned about from Southern Ag called Garden Friendly Bacteria. They might have it at your local HD or Ace. It mentions fusarium wilt as well as botrytis (bud mold).

You can try that too. I haven't found any locally yet.

Man that sucks! This was by far my biggest and healthiest plant and now it seems doomed. It’s not close to harvest unfortunately :( If it eats at it one branch at a time then there’s nothing really I can do right?

So if it’s bud rot it can be controlled and if it’s fusarium I am screwed? Or am I screwed either way? I will do some research tonight on what you mentioned. Thanks man!

What a bummer! And yes the RH has been ridiculously high in the evenings.

Well here are the most recent pics of Northern Lights and Sour Diesel and both of which are going to yellowing of the leaves. I’m not sure if this is a natural thing that happens, I’m guessing no and that I’ve got an issue, however the buds/flowers look really healthy...to me. What do y’all think?

The dead leaves are from ones I trimmed part off but couldn’t get to the whole stem.

Well, just found a dead bud on my Sour Diesel plant. It wasn’t one or the huge buds but one of the newer ones of the last few weeks I would say. Interestingly enough only the top half of the bud was dead(ish) but I just cut the whole branch, it was nothing special but I’m curious as to why brought this bud to its knees??

Can anyone tell from the pics? TIA @InTheShed

Got a pic of the whole plant and the rest of that branch? Is that bud completely dried out?

Here’s a couple pics of the whole plant Shed. The top 30-40% of the branch was dried out/dead(ish) and the bottom half was lush green. The red circles are where that bud was.
