The Deep Water Culture Home

I've wondered about this too, when they get big into flower, it seems like they would be hard to manage when doing res changes and things.

Mine are still early in veg and what I do is take the lid off and put it on another extra tub I got just for when managing the res. I just sit it right down on the extra tub while I work in the res. It works really well for now but Im worried about when they get bigger and the roots are goin everywhere, maybe it will keep working the same way, only time will tell I supposs :reading420magazine:

I have two tanks in my Tutorial, both had 4 plants with one plant in each that was a giant 52 to 54 inches tall. After I started 12/12, I quit removing the lid and I just propped up one end and easily worked in the tank. No plant fell ovor or dropped in.

I can easily see how getting a hose in wouldnt be to hard.

What if you've got an issue and you have to get IN there properly?

For a res change I have a few spare rubbermaid bins and plan on picking up two more so when i change the res out I can let the plants sit in the empty bin. Dont see why they would break or fall over cuz when they big enough they can support them selves i thought. The main stem should be big enough.

especially if you put the rockwool cube half way down into the cup, surrounded by lots of hydroton. The roots will grab a hold of the cup and interweave through it, and it won't go anywhere.

on mine i cut the hinges so the top lifts off just like a regular res. and i personally love 2 plants to 1 res. so it's still very manageable. lol i'll go take a pic of 2 grand daddy purp medium size plants in 1 res i have going right now. i had 5 in same res and once i started them flowering i moved 3 from res to soil outside.

skin weren't you the one that made the cooler with the foam? If so put the link in you signature so all can see your great handiwork. I would love to know if it keeps it cooler or it keeps the heat. Please keep us posted.

was not me, but insulating the res is not a bad thing to do

My two plants were pretty heavy and at first did what you do after that just lifted lid moved it back till it hit the end of the net pots. I had about an inch and a half to pour water and test. I had no issue with the weight. I will say the plants did move and you had to be careful to lean them on the wall since the roots push up when you do that if they are thick like mine are. It pushes the pot right out of the lid.

Thanks I knew someone did it. I do want to know if the temps do rise will the heat stay? It stands to reason that it will. That can become an issue. We have to wait till it is tested fully to see. I also wonder if the water does get hot will it be harder to cool or will it be the same?

i kind of wondered the same thing, havent tried it yet but i might try the engine tape with a good cooler and ill see how it goes,

Happy birthday the weed and many more.

Where is hairy?

Ben your welcome any time.

IMHO I think wrapping stuff around the cooler is more work. I try and need to do things the easy way. Everyone has to do what is good and works for them.

MC where are you? I miss your quick quips.

Looks great, but I'd be so afraid it might fall.
i've had a couple of close 1's thats why i get the girlfriend to help now once it's balanced its fine you watch now i've said that the next res change it'll happen hopefully it'll be finished if not 1 more change to go :):roorrip: peace
