The Deep Water Culture Home

Hey everyone!

We're just coming of a power outage coming from a severe thunderstorm. We were down for a few hours.

Which brings me to the question. What do you do when you have a power failure? How would you keep your roots from drowning in the res?

:cheer:Airbath:cheer:

Don't leave root roots submerged during a power outage - let them hang in the air. A good dunk every hour or so to make sure they don't dry out and you can baby your way through a power outage with little risk.

Assuming you're home when it happens ;)

so i may have a slight problem,my mom came over with a friend of hers from highschool(guy),they were both drunk ,my mom was alot drunker because she rarley drinks. and she insisted on telling him about my grow and when i gave him the fake story of where they were (i always say they are a few towns over at a buddy of mines ((he doesent exist lol)) she said no there not there in the back room i was just there earlier blah blah blah its ok hes cool hes cool .i ended up taking him back there before she did ..anyway the guy just seemed weird and my g/f thought so to.and idk if i should prepare for a quick harvest or if it would have any neg effects besides not being as potent....this sucks, last time i tell my mom about my plants lol.but i didnt think she would just go tell someone, she used to grow herself so she should know the rules by now lol
sorry to hear that bendog i hope your mum trusts this bloke 100% and it wasn't just a pissed up rant it'll be a shame to harvest early better to be safe than sorry :goodluck:

i had a power outage 6 weeks into flower i took the beast out of the res and just sprayed the roots every 20 mins or so just to keep them moist but for my next grow i'll invest in a battery powered pump just as a precaution :roorrip: peace
mc i'm trying for below the waist but i'm feeling the only thing below the waist she wants is my wallet in my back pocket lol

A computer UPS battery backup would run a small oxygen pump for hours. They can be had brand new for $100

or

Get a working UPS with dead batteries for cheap and remove the batteries and then replace them with two Deep Cycle boat batteries. This setup can run a server for an hour+ which means you could probably run a small oxygen pump for a day+ or even a exhaust fan to ensure that the smell is still being scrubbed while the power is out.

Search google for UPS battery backup and you will find plenty of people selling the units new and used. Look at the capacity.

I like the APC 1500 Smart UPS as you can attach it to a Windows Desktop or Linux server via USB and have the computer text your phone when the power goes out. :thumb: The APC 1500 UPS can also easily be modified to use two Deep Cycle boat batteries with nothing but a drill, o-ring, heavy gauge wire, and terminals!

Tech skills, you should make a thread for this, bro.:goodjob::hookah:

I just heard today about a guy in town here who lives 2 blocks from the police dept, showed a friend of mine pictures of his backyard with rows of 4-5' tall plants !! Talk about either brass balls or just stupid ! Maybe he thinks it's safer that close to the cops !?

Wow, that's taking a chance!

What do you do when you have a power failure?

We live in an area that gets severe storms and power outages that sometimes last for several days.

The plants wouldn't like being in the dark that long without air and water circulation.

So we have a small (3500KW) generator that kicks in when the power goes off.

It doesn't power the whole house, just the grow operation, household lights, TV, computers, and certain wall plugs.

I'm a brownie man! I use the crock pot method but it's pretty much the same. When that butter hardens there is some green ooze under it (vegetable matter) and you have to get every spec off it for a better taste. One time I even reheated it and refrigerated it so I could get any other gunk. It's really not that bad since I'm not eating the brownies for taste. LOL!

Has anyone tried water drying the trim to get the plant taste out? I would think this would be the best way to remove cholorpoform(sp) and nutrients. Just a thought. :bong:

Man it is SNOWING in Guidoville. I will try to post some pics later. I have a shitty camera so don't expect much. But even the main stems are oozing trichs, and I have allmost 3 weeks left until harvest. I'm so freaking excited!!!!!!!

I dried the trim...just did not "cure" it. If I took some time to put a cure on it it would taste better just as butta...but the cookies were fantastic! I added the choco chips to buffer a slight herbal flavor. It came out of the container nicely after overnight refrigeration and was very easy to handle, cut and freeze for later use.:peace:

well here are a few new pics it wouldent let me upload 3 really detailed pics because of file size limit but hope these are ok

Nice Guido ! How long has that one been flowering ? Looks like your gonna have a great harvest !!

I possible could write up a DIY with the APC UPS conversion to deep cycle boat batteries and setting up the software to txt, email, twit whatever you like about power fluxs or outages. It will just be a while as I just got the house bought and the grow room built up.

Next project is to install a rack and build up a OpenSolaris ZFS NAS or a Linux NAS all for music, movies, pictures etc. Been debating even mixing it with mythTV frontends so that I don't have to pay the cable company box rental fee plus the cost of digital cable... all for a digital tv guide... Also gotta finish wiring the house up with Cat-6 and run some new coaxial cable. So many projects and so little funds. :roorrip:

Guido,
Nice Plants!:rollit::bravo:
