Caught up...great intro and explanation of how/why you grow Advocate!

When do you usually do your transplant from 1 to 20 gallon and how long after that do you flip? And I don't think I realized you top them so small...I'm putting that into my memory banks :).
Ive tried to put your suggestions into motion. Ive gottenth most feedback from you.
- I transplant it seems about when i run out of space to tie branches down, when it gets more busy like here,..

This this one above it shortly after transplant.
But been having good luck with once early topping. Short and wide. I usually let it get to 4 or 5 nodes and then cut back to two. I get the main stem to split energies at soil level. I let it go long enough to get a good root base then cut it back. Ive had speedy growth doing this.

Thanks! At that stage does the rootball come out pretty much in one piece?

Do you pull the felt down to free it from the pot? I remember reading last year to put the pot on upside down bucket or pot with a smaller diameter then the felt one and pull the felt down around the base...in case anyone is wondering how to get a plant out of a felt pot without cutting it. It works like a charm!

Yea i am able to push the buttom up and peel sides back enough to break it free. It’s small so its easy to work in my hands. I havnt had too much trouble last few times. I will definitely remember this though thanks.

In Advocate nice intro and topping at the second is new to me as well. Looking forward to seeing both of these chemovars grown out.

For me and the way I do it, disclaim that my journal doesn’t harbor the correct way, just my way. Also I don’t know all the fancy terms.
But as we know topping takes the energy out of the main stem and splits it at the preceding node. Since I try to do short and wide plants I let it go till the 4th or 5th node to establish a root system and get the first fan leaves some girth to collect light.
This does slow growth but the benefit is that I get 4 main stems by going to the second node. I will be coaching them out by LST the top main colas when they start to get longer while node 1 extend out. I’ve had some plants just get long lanky and I’ve had some beefy and putting off several stems. Here is some under canopy porn from last few grows.
For me, not a rule
I only top once. It’s splitting the energies and I believe, to an extent, the size of the buds. I just feel this way it isn’t science. I’ve done this bushy method without topping at all. If that plant is tall and you split the energies I think there is less Bi if it the higher up the plant you go.

My overall goal is the 4 main stems at dirt level. They are easy to train done and make a bush of a plant.

Same plant in veg

These two I thing were training no topping.

Here is some training after topping. These were my blueberry og and cookies Kush.

Great undercarriages! Solid structure and it's obviously working great based on the flower pics :).
It’s the only reason I’m brave enough to post the extran info. Prior I just posted pics and assume everyone knew what was happening. But I’ve definitely tested it on myself.

Always good to show how you create such a beautiful canopy and a sea of colas. A lot of folks here are looking for that exact type of guidance.
I’m just afraid of giving the wrong advice so often. I’m am not overly educated in this stuff. You all are my guides.
Wow, love that root structure.
Can you explain the watering ring on the earlier pics? Are they fed from a metered pump system?
Sure, that is my back up watering system. I put a large container in my Grow room with water in it. The pump is on an app/internet control. If I get hospitalized or go on vacation I just use the internet controlling my plug to turn it on from anywhere. The rings were a nice touch I found when researching the system. I don’t like having still water so I haven’t been using it but will have it for vacations.

Boy this red diesel is really chugging along. Look close at the red bin the middle of the new growth. It’s either the trait of the strain or its no liking the UV. I did raise the lights a little. Had to put the Strawberry banana on something to raise it up so they are more even. No problem..

We're really not your guides Advocate. Your grows show a sophistication and knowledge that require little input from us. We are just another set of eyes that everyone can use regardless of skill.
Well put Shed.:thumb: I only have a couple friends in "real" life I can talk about growing and it is a major part and love of mine so I really appreciate the "unreal" friends here on 420. You Advocate are an unreal friend, :high-five:.:Namaste:

I am terrible at taking a compliment but thank you so much. I cant even understand most of you guys when you get going. I know I’m a novice and i also know that i have tons to learn and don’t mind that I don’t know everything. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed i had to concentrate on keeping it simple. But in doing so I also want others to see they can have over 1 pound harvests with minimal attendance. Be empowered people lol
