Blue Dream & Chocoloco x Jack's Cleaner 2: Outdoor Zone 9B, Central Coast Cali

It is hard to say do this or do that. Our growing styles are too different. I do know at some time they are going to need lots of food with all that great California sun. That is why I love supplemented soil. I don't need to worry about too much till they are well established.

Some updated pics on these babies. The newest Loco Cleaners are looking better. They've had a more consistent growing environment though. It will interesting to see if the oldest Loco Cleaner ends up being the strongest though having to deal with the elements at an earlier age. Hmmm...

The Blue Dream is going 3 different ways it seems. #1 is strong and stout. #2 looks similar but just a little behind. #3 well...looks like it hasn't realized it is supposed to grow.

I am going to try tomatoes in big grow bags this year. It will be my first real attempt to grow anything outdoors. I have got the chance to help others with outdoor marijuana plants. I have not got a chance to grow any outdoors since I was a kid. maybe someday. Looking forward to watching yours grow.

I have no idea why this plant is not happy. Compared to the other babies, it's definitely an ugly duckling.

Blue Dream #2 is the best of the bunch. Will be moving up to 1 gallon soon.

Maybe dose of Cal/Mag will help that weird looking Loco Cleaner. The product I use has lots of other metals in it. It usually cure leaf problems. I have had plants that looked like it before. Don't remember if I solved it, it went away, or died lol. Pretty sure they pulled through so it was either cal/mag or nothing that cures it.

Some more pics of the Loco Cleaners! These babies look great with some new growth. These small fabric pots are interesting. They dry out fast though but the plants seem to be doing fine in them. I may put them in a 1 gallon later today. Forgive the water spots. Foliar spray last night with some Aloe Vera.

I decided to do some transplanting today. Moved the Blue Dream and Loco Cleaner #2 into 2 gallon pots. The other Loco Cleaner babies went into 1 gallon. They all seemed to have done well in the small fabric pots. Roots growing through them easily but I did find that they dried out quickly. I'm not sure how that affected the root structure. I decided to do a little bit of an experiment. For one of the babies, I took off the fabric and the others I left them in it. I want to see how well they deal with the transplant stress.

Loco Cleaner #4 - This is the only one that got the fabric taken off.

Loco Cleaner #2 is starting to get some good looking growth on the top. It started off like a mutant but I'm too intrigued to toss it. Looking forward to see if it ends up being a female.

Looks like roots grow right through them bags pretty well. That's a good thing. When the outside of them dry. It should just prune the root. At least that is what the book says LOL. Looks like they did just what the advertiser says they would. I don't see a lot of lag from plants after a re-pot with the pots I use. With those bags there should be none if they are left in the bag. My bet, it was hard to get the bags off for re-potting. My guess is the ones you took the bag off of will have a bit slower of a rebound.

Taking off the bag was definitely not a fun experience. I wanted to see how difficult it would be and to see the transplant and growth results. I think my seedling mix may be a little too loose. I did not hold together as well as I was hoping. Also an indication of the root health though not holding enough soil. The others definitely had stronger roots and popping out of the bag. The one I happened to decide on removing the fabric, was not quite as strong of a root grower. It will be interesting to see if the removal of the bag will prompt it to open up more roots at a faster rate since the plastic pot won't air prune them. Are the fabric pots actually better for the plant's root growth in the early stages? Hmmm...

A pleasantly flawed scientific experiment with different controls that could potentially mean nothing significant and the fact that not all things in this experiment are equal. :hmmmm: :laughtwo:
:lot-o-toke:

I wanted to share a new toy I picked up. Soil pH attachment for my Apera pen. Interesting to see the difference in my soil mixes. Cool to see Loco Cleaner #2 starting to look better. The new growth looks much better.

The pH straight from the tap (through filtration).

Blue Dream #1 - looking sad because they needed water today. They got a full drench before testing the soil.

This is the reading inside the CowPot, which has not broken down yet. Quite the difference!

Some updated pics! And I believe that Loco Cleaner #2 is a female! She has been making quite the turnaround lately. All the new growth looks beautiful and normal. I wish I knew what the deficiency was that caused the wavy and stiff leaves early on. I included a couple pics for more opinions about it being a lady. What do you think?

My favorite so far! Strong and steady growth from the beginning. I think this will be the best of all the Loco Cleaners. Now to hope it ends up being a female.

My first suggestion would be to resize pictures if you can. Loading time takes for ever to see the new pics LOL. That one plant is a female for sure. Plants are looking a lot better. I would suggest bending them to promote more bushing. Pretty sure it will help outdoor plants just as much as indoor. It will let the lower branches reach out farther from the main stalk. It should open up the plant to more sunshine.

Looks like Loco #6 is a female too! I'll get some pics later and I'll try to do a different upload method. I'm uploading directly to the thread. I thought that was the updated option. Are we still supposed to upload into the member galleries and then embed media into posts after?!

Yeah everything is done the same way as far as I know. I have to resize all my pictures before I upload them. Mine come from a camera not a phone. I don't know how to do it with a phone. I had the same thing happen when I was posting lots of pictures. I now resize all pictures as small as I can. Picture quality has been fine the loading time is the only change I noticed.

The male/female ratio's from the Jacks Cleaner 2 project seem to be really good. Not sure if that is because of the male or how they were grown. I do know it was nothing I did knowingly. I really hope Loco Cleaner is everything I think it will be.

I'm really excited to see how #6 will turn out. I'm glad #2 ended up being a female too. Something about the underdog or runts tugs at my heart. LOL I know it's a plant but I hope it ends up being an amazing plant. They'll be getting a new pot today or tomorrow most likely. I have a lot of transplanting to get done! Fun times!

Transplanting is always a big day at my house. I usually do everything at the same time. I don't have near the room to work now which makes it a little tougher. One of my favorite days of growing are the day after I get done re-potting LOL.

Last grow, the one plant that was the biggest pain in the ass to grow. Ended up being the best smoke from the whole grow. You are right in the fact that great things can come from anywhere.

Damn...it has been a while since the last update. Just recently uppotted (nearly 2 weeks now actually). They are doing good. After a little bit of transplant shock for the Blue Dreams, they are looking much better a couple days after a potent compost tea they recieved last week.

Check out Loco Cleaner #2!!! Crazy to see how different it looks now. Considering the growth when it was young, it must have been some sort of deficiency or excess that caused all the warped leaves. Now it looks beautiful!
