Caconym's Multi-Strain Compact Soil Grow 2017

Update time.
Things are going a lot better since I got the humidifier and sorted pH out, lots of healthy new growth on all 6 girls. The Weird Widow seems to be producing normal leaves at the tips so hopefully she's going to be alright. I've started LST on the three younger girls, I've decided to skip the second round of topping or they'll be too far behind the older girls. I'm going to keep the lower two branches, with the two main tops this will give me the four armed structure I was aming for.

The Fruit Spirit is getting very bushy now, there's branches popping up all over the place. She's well overdue for flipping. I've been removing leaves every couple of days to try and keep the canopy getting too congested.

The Critical Kush is doing really well. I keep taking leaves pretty much every day and by the next day she's filled the gaps. Astonishing rate of growth. I think she's taking up more room than the Fruit Spirit now despite being a couple of weeks younger.

The White Widow seems to have completely recovered from whatever was causing the weirdness. She's still a little behind the Critical Kush but she's filling in nicely.

The Blue Dream has stretched out quite a lot. I've opened her out with LST but the lower growth points aren't responding as well as they are on the Bubba Kush and C99.

420-magazine-mobile2096417698.jpg

The Bubba Kush is doing well, good symmetry and the canopy is nice and even. I've been taking leaves here and there to allow more space for growth in the centre.

420-magazine-mobile674135140.jpg

The C99 seems to be a little ahead of the two HSO strains. She's branching a bit more and I've had to do a little extra LST. Again I've been taking a few leaves here and there to keep the centre open for growth.

Planted a couple of little pots with basil to stick in with the girls, I've read it's a good companion for cannabis and repels a lot of nuisance insects. I had seeds lying around from attempting to plant some herbs in my outdoor garden and thought I'd give it a try.

All the girls with basil buddies. I'm starting to realise just how packed in they'll be when they finish! Hopefully I'll get away with it...

The Blue Dream, Bubba Kush and C99 are 33 days from breaking soil, the Critical Kush and White Widow are 40 days and the Fruit Spirit is approximately 55 days (I didn't note when I planted her).

All six girls have been on 0.5ml/l Budweiser, 4ml/l terra vega and 1-2ml/l rhizotonic for the last week or so. The watering is starting to increase in frequency, the Fruit Spirit and Critical Kush are thirsty after 2-3 days now.

Temperature has been an issue again, had another heatwave for the last couple of days so I've had to dim the lights from time to time but since the humidifier has been in the girls don't seem to mind the heat as much. I plan to upgrade to a 5 inch fan (keeping the same ducting and filter) in the near future. I will mount this outside of the grow box in a sound-damping box to increase the space available for the plants.

I'm thinking about flipping very soon otherwise I'll run out of space! The three younger girls could use another week or so but the older ones are ready if not overdue. I'm going away for a couple of days at the weekend, I was thinking of leaving them in the dark while I'm gone (about 60 hours) so I don't have to rely on my girlfriend to monitor temperatures and then starting 12/12 on Monday. Any thoughts?

Chucked all the leaves I took today in a smoothie with some oats, seeds and a banana for breakfast. Delicious!

Made some upgrades to my ventilation system yesterday, moved my exhaust fan and filter to make more space and upgraded from an 80mm intake to 140mm with a dust screen.

You can see the old hole for the exhaust duct at the bottom, moved it to the top of the space as I hang my filter from the ceiling and I had a load of acoustic ducting flapping about everywhere

Three Royal Queens enjoying the breeze

Looking good there Caconym, your plants will love them Cobs. Best thing I ever did was go Cobs. Good Luck on your set-up!!

I flushed each girl through with 2l of plain spring water and then fed with 0.5ml/l Budweiser, 1.67ml/l terra vega and 3.33ml/l hesi bloom before they went to bed. I've managed to accidentally split Blue Dream's main stem down the middle while trying to strap her down a bit tighter but she'll be fine.

Update from last night (too tired to post yesterday) day 4 of flower. Lights-on temps 26-30°C, humidity 50-55%

The stretch seems to be under way, the Blue Dream in particular is getting very leggy. I'm concerned about space! LST will have to be stepped up to mitigate the stretch. I adjusted the LST on the Fruit Spirit to even up the canopy as the 4 main tops were starting to get ahead of the rest. I bent them down sideways in a spiral fashion. I adjusted the Critical Kush and White Widow as well by pulling the branches down and a bit further out to open up the centre of the canopy a bit more. All three had a bit of a haircut to reduce the space they were taking up and open the canopy up a little. The three younger girls will get similarly adjusted tonight when the lights come on, I ran out of time last night.

The Fruit Spirit got watered with 1ml/l Budweiser, 2ml/l Canna Terra Vega and 5ml/l Hesi Bloom. Solution was pHed to 6.4, EC was 1.9. Runoff at 6.4pH, 2.0 EC. Critical Kush and White Widow will probably need watering tomorrow.

The split stem on the Blue Dream looks to be healing OK and it hasn't slowed her down at all. I'll post a closeup tonight.

No signs of flowers yet.

Flower day 5

Temps 26-29°C humidity 50-55%

Adjusted the LST on the three younger girls tonight, removed a few leaves and fed the Critical Kush, Blue Dream and Bubba Kush with the same nutes as last night. pH was 6.4, EC 1.7 runoff pH 6.3 EC 2.0

Looking real nice are all of your ladies. Even the basil is coming along. Nice work!
Thanks, I wish I'd planted the basil earlier as it's going to struggle for light and probably won't be that established by harvest time. I'll be able to re-use it for the next grow though.

Flower day 6

Day temps 25-29°C
Night temps 19-21°C
Humidity 55-60%

Adjusted LST on the Blue Dream, Bubba Kush and C99 to account for new growth/tips bending upwards.

Fed White Widow and C99 with 2ml/l Canna Terra Vega, 5ml/l Hesi Bloom and 1ml/l Budweiser. pH 6.4, EC 1.9. Runoff pH 6.4, EC 2.2

The girls are starting to smell noticeably and my hands are a little sticky after handling them. The Blue Dream is the first to show hints of flower development. I'm hoping to see pistils in the next week.

I've decided to start brewing teas to feed with so I've started gathering materials. I plan to use living organic soil for my next grow so I will use the rest of this grow to practice making tea. I'll update with progress here once I've got more bits.

Flower day 7

Day temps 28-30°c
Night temps 20-21°c
Humidity 55-60%

Adjusted LST on all the girls and took some leaves to reduce congestion in the canopy. Fed Fruit Spirit with 1.7ml/l Canna Terra Vega, 0.7ml/l Budweiser, 5ml/l Hesi Bloom and started Terpenez at 0.5ml/l.

Bought a 5 inch fan and filter today, need to gather a few more bits and I'll start building a box for the fan and get the filter in. Will have to wait until Tuesday for duct reducers.

Peace

Flower day 10
Day temps 29-31°C
Night temps 20-22°C
Humidity 55-60%

Removed a few leaves here and there, fed all the girls bar the C99 with 1ml/l Budweiser, 7ml/l Hesi Bloom and 0.5ml/l Terpenez. pH 6.4, EC 1.9. Runoff pH 6.4, EC 2.4. Need to dial back the nutes a little. I've got enough of the same nutes left for the C99 tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some tea ready for the next feed, the brewer is under construction and I have all my ingredients.

Peace

The strains growing now are all from Royal Queen Seeds:
Fruit Spirit - Blueberry x White Widow - 60% sativa
White Widow - 50% sativa
Critical Kush - Critical Mass x OG Kush - 80% indica

Isn't blueberry something like 80% or 90% indica? If so, and their version of white widow is 50:50, HtH do they figure a cross to be 60:40 sativa-dominant, lol?

Anyway, I like DiY - +REPs (enjoy all the green boxes, lol).

That's a very good question. I'd guess either someone messed up when they were writing out the strain info, or the breeding process was a bit more complicated than simply crossing two strains.
