Mariwannna's First Grow, Indoor, Soil, T5, 1000W HPS, Five Strains, Auto

Topped 8 of the girls. They all mostly look like this:

Ok good call, this spring/summer grow im starting is going to be a struggle as far as temps go.

The 2 300w LEDs only raise the temperature 4 degrees from the outside in my grow room. Seems like a pretty solid choice in lighting. The plants seem to like it, too.

Yeah, I'm going to top a couple of them at least - I think I'm just about ready on a few of them. I picked up 33 feet of flexible tie from the dollar store for LST and don't know that I'll have the space for a scrog net - I think it'll be packed enough that I'll have a full canopy without that. We'll see.

From what I've read, topping an auto between the 3rd and 4th node will only stunt them for a a day or two if done right... Since they're autos they don't really have weeks to recover. I prolly won't top my runts - just LST as they get bigger.

That space is going to be absolutely packed! I wish I was able to tell you whether or not your ladies are ready for topping but I'm in the same boat as you. On the plus side It seems like you have enough plants to experiment and still pull a healthy yield if 1 or two dont do so well.

Just a quick phone update since topping...

I started doing a little LST right after topping. I'm not sure how I did overall, but I did eff up one of the Tutankhamens when I ripped a leaf :(

I watered yesterday with 1 tablespoon of FF Big Bloom per gallon and 1 teaspoon of FF Grow Big. I used 4 gallons of water total.

I decided to add my 4' 4 bulb T5 back into the room - temperatures in the room were hanging around 73, so I figured adding the light would increase it a bit and be beneficial. Seems true. Temps are steady at 77 with the lights on. I am gonna have to move plants around or the light around to get even coverage. Or rethink where the LEDs hang.

A couple pics, more to come later:

Day 20 - I pulled the girls out to inspect them and shuffle them around the grow area so they get equal light (since I added the T5 back on the side). I snapped some photos and tried to figure out how to LST them better - I'm still working on that.

I ripped the leaf on Amnesia Molotov 7 when I was trying to pull down the branches - she's looking a little weird - kinda like lettuce. Crystal Meth 8 is still runty and weird, too - she looks like she needs water but the bottom of her smart pot is still wet. She reacted well to the feeding but became kinda wilty pretty quickly.

I think they look pretty solid overall.

I've been torturing the girls a bit. They seem to be doing well. The Tutankhamen responded better to topping than Amnesia but they're all still strong. They got plain phed water two days ago and full strength nutes in their water today. Crystal continues to be a problem child, but that's what I get for having a girl with a stripper name.

Here's my cm at 64 days

Didn't top or do any training
Wanted to see how strain grew first

Thanks for the "after shot." Because she was slower to start than the rest, I didn't do any topping or anything either. I haven't even trained her at all because I can't get in there... we'll see how she turns out.

Looks good!

Did you notice any reaction to switching to LED? Did growth speed up/slowdown? Did the plants perk up at all?

Cheers!

The CM is the only one who hasn't responded well since the light change, but she was always a runt. I added the t5 back in and it didn't really change anything it seems. All the other plants are full steam ahead, though. I'm training them to have an even canopy and they're filling out the space.

I took a couple shots just now under the LED while I adjusted some of the restraints on the girls. I have one plant that is potted substantially higher than the others - she's getting held down the most. They're all growing pretty strong; I'm waiting until the new growth is strong enough that I'm sure I won't break it to tie it down.
