Mini airpots for seedlings

Anybody been doing holes like that ? (Aka mini airpot) for seedlings, any difference in root growth ?

Be hard to transplant with roots out the sides... just a thought.

I use 2 solo cups - 1 inside the other with an X cut into the btm of the inside cup. If the root grows thru the X I can bend the tabs so I dont injure the roots.
 
I thought about doing this as I have loads I never use any more and I seem to be using fabric pots as a one time on use and then they get binned or used in the outdoor garden.

Would 1" holes in say a 20L round pot with a layer of garden fabric?

The garden fabric allows moisture in and out as well as air in but won't allow roots to grow through.
