Mini airpots for seedlings

Anybody been doing holes like that ? (Aka mini airpot) for seedlings, any difference in root growth ?

Be hard to transplant with roots out the sides... just a thought.

I use 2 solo cups - 1 inside the other with an X cut into the btm of the inside cup. If the root grows thru the X I can bend the tabs so I dont injure the roots.

The roots will air prune themselves when they hit the holes.......that's the whole concept of air pots.

The op made something it's a little bit different shape than those air pots. But entirely sure its gonna work the same. Who knows.... I'm not gonna risk a $20 seed to find out. Just saying. I got enough issues with seedlings.

Two weeks in an air pot. The roots don't grow out the sides.......they air prune.

I thought about doing this as I have loads I never use any more and I seem to be using fabric pots as a one time on use and then they get binned or used in the outdoor garden.

Would 1" holes in say a 20L round pot with a layer of garden fabric?

The garden fabric allows moisture in and out as well as air in but won't allow roots to grow through.

Why would you say that? Lol.
These are the two pots I use.......1ltr and 9.2 ltr.
