Rookie Start At A Perpetual Garden

Feeling greatful someone caught this before it caught me! Lol. Yea dude it's been an eye opener that's forsure... So today I m building a Supplimental Carbon filter to help with the smell in here and also gotta revamp the flower room door (maybe even expand the room it's self too have room to work/spray these ladies without having to move them around much. Gonna be a fine tuning kinda day around here!:thumb:

Well another day of modifying, building and dealing with some big issues around here. I cleared out the space outside the tent to make room for a "wash bay" type area to spray and actually be able to move the plants in and out! Really wanted to avoid moving the plants around to much for their treatments so that's why I made this area....
image7940.jpeg

I cleaned house AGAIN today on top of soil treatments for all plants. then every other day is an absolute soaking with the Foliar spray to combat these nasty buggers!
image7939.jpeg

Another big issue here was getting to be smell, me and the old lady don't smell it but my dope hound buddies can when they come over, even WITH the carbon filter I have in play already..... So I figured I'd build my own and add it on the discharge end of the fan. As it sits now it's sucking the air out through a filter in the tent, then dumping through my home made jobie!
I used two 5 gal buckets , one with the bottom cut out of it, then taped em together, used some black flexible corrugated pipe and placed it about 4 inches off the bottom in the buckets right in the center and lined it with char coal chunks. I could have used another half a bag or so but instead we crumpled up a whole pile of bounce dryer sheets and threw em on top of the coal for about 8 inches depth them crumpled up a little paper to displace a little more space to the top. Then to contain everything I used some panty hose to hold everything in... The waste part went around the bucket top and after I cut the toe out I pulled it over the pipe.

My only issues are that I used what I had and that involved me reducing the pipe from 6" off my fan to 4" in the bucket creating restriction on top of the restriction forcing through the coal and other filterings in the bucket. That end results in less heat removal but in my situation with a fresh air intake fan grabbing winter cool air it's quite manageable with the fan controller, just gotta watch it for a while to get use to things now.

The ladies all bounced back nicely for their massive shower last night, they look happy, just sucks knowing they are infested by mites. One good thing is they aren't spider mites, they are just yellow typed mites and shouldn't produce any webbing!:thumb: Little over 2 weeks till harvest on 2 and a month or so for the next so I ll get a good treatment on the other plants and the ones I m harvesting should be just fine, just meant a good o ll bud washing gonna be a happen n around here for a while!!

Fingers crossed guys and gals on how this plays out, I hope things don't escalate...... Praying to the pot gods:ganjamon::Namaste:

Great job, I told you its winnable. Decon your veg area too. I always change shoes and clothes before getting into my grow.

Good idea I might do that. Yea man that veg room was probably the worste.... All that young growth seemed to bring em running! Lots of damage on new plants and clones but it's all getting treated and treated HARD! I just hope it kicks in in time. So from what I read is that it doesn't really kill em, it makes them want to leave the plant...... But then where do they go?? Do they just starve or Am I looking at a bigger issue down the road!? I am going to keep treating regularly now for these bastards!!

Na, they need to die. SNS will kill. The flowering issue is leaf mass loss. Once veg is over, no new leaf growth. Your veg plants will regrow leafs and be fine. It's always late flower when your hit if you'll be hit. Leaf loss will be yield loss. Tough lesson but like me, you'll never miss an attack again.

Cheers

sorry to hear about your spider mite problem. while it sucks you got them, on the other hand, it actually will be beneficial to you now that you have had the experience of dealing with them. Chances are you be more cautious about entering your grow after you have been outside from now on, and you will be on the lookout for them from this point forward. It would also be to your advantage to wash the walls, the floor and the ceiling down with a bleach solution and even a H2O2 solution after your current flowering is completed.
Be prepared to battle with them till the end of your grow, while spraying will kill the young and the adults, the eggs make it a bitch to kill every single one of them. Even when you see no signs of them for a week, keep looking, all it takes is missing one.
Other then a small SM invasion, your garden looks very nice, you should have a nice harvest in your future

So I did a 21 gal flUsh on the Jabba Reveg, probably should have been done first thing when reveged hey?! I am gonna stop watering on a schedule and start watching the plants and let them tell me what's up ( just like the little woman) a guy should be use to that by now, hehehe! I also picked up some Epson salt too, I heard it was a good natural fert and also helps with a lot of other things. Anyone have knowledge or use Epson salt for aiding the grow?

Epsom salt is a source of Magnesium in your garden. Most folks find the need to supplement their plants with CalMag. Epsom salt can be used as the 'Mag' portion of a CalMag treatment. I personally use milk for the Cal part of the CalMag equation. 1 tsp of each/gal.
Haven't bought CalMag in quite a while.

Ok... so I deal with evil buggins on occasion. I treat with Pyretherin based products. They'll kill the buggins instantly.
It needs a repeat treatment to kill the unhatched ones that pop up after the 1st treatment. I treat 3 times with a day off between treatments.
I prefer aerosol based sprays. The aerosol propellant is deadly to leaves, but dissipates within a few inches of the nozzle, so I spray it indirectly and let the mist settle down into the plant (fans off). This method works well in enclosed areas with no air movement.

Well I ve been treating these plants for a few days now and have noticed a huge drop in mites, still finding the odd one though. I just did the flush on Ak today and plan on doing Cheese tomorrow or the day after..... (25 gal flush) Been checking trichs the last week and seen good colour and positive change. Sitting at about 10 percent amber on the Ak and the Cheese is sitting around 30 plus! From that I read Cheese is a CBD dominated strain so I guess all that amber is normal. As it sits I m gonna wait for the AK to dry right out and keep an eye on the trichs before I flush again if I even do flush again, as for the Cheese I think she s gonna get a good flush then hopefully she ll hold off for another few days before I have to give her the chop!

Here s the arm full of munitions I picked up from the o ll hardware store!

Harvest time for 2 plants within the next week or so then I can do more work at cleaning my rooms and eradicating the mites. Just so thankful they were not spider mites, wewf!

Once i flushed and leaves turned bugs lost interests. Great recovery.

Cheers

Thanks buddy, it's all because of your keen eye and experiance I have anything left!:high-five: Yea they are pack n on the weight now, I m thinking another week or so, starting to see some foxtailing now so that's a good thing ehh! Still finding the little buggers but a lot less of them, I ll just keep treating for another month to make sure they get the point! If you lived anywhere remotely close too me I d be delivering a few fresh ounces to your door step for the life saving help, thanks again:thumb: Me and buddy were both blown away by how you picked that out from my shitty pics, hahaha we both sat around last night bragging up your skills and taking mental notes ( in a mean cloud of smoke but still)

Ha, if you ever near Portland we will get lunch. Not skillz, we had same issue. Now it will stand out like a sore thumb. You don't need to look, it jump's out and that is all you see.

Cheers

So these bugs are actually Thrips! They do a lot of the same things as mites accept the silvery streaks they leave on te leaves! I guess there are like 5 stages to these buggers lives and last 2 involve flying so I d better get a handle on em before that!! Still cleaning rooms every 3 or 4 days and doing soil treatments with the sns and spraying with a insecticidal soap every other day. They say the soil drench treatments take 2 weeks to kick in but last another 3 weeks after you quit.
Learning lots about bug s these days!!

Went to check on things on the flower room and found a cola flopped over, so I gave it the snip and hung er up with the bit of Cheese I cut down the other day to have for harvest day smoke.... Guess the pot gods figured I need a little AK in the mix as well!

That White widow got watered and treated today and man o man check out he leaves after being under the light for a few hrs!

image8203.jpeg

Not sure how my other Jabba that in flower under the CFL s and fluorescence is liking the treatments, esp on the newly formed bud.... Hairs are lookn a little burnt. Wonder if that insecticidal soap is harsh on new growth bud..... Don't need no hermi s! Ahh speaking of hermi s, my solo cup challenge started nannering... Musta been too much stress, I totally don't blame her though, it s been harsh time for her from day one.

Not much of an update as a quick glimps into my "chaos under construction" , all the youngn s we put to bed in the sub veg space. I ll get my shit together soon, better cuz I see 2 plants ready for harvest soon... Very soon:circle-of-love::high-five::cheer: Then I can get that other Jab in the flower room and switch things back in the veg room.... Been putting off upsizing pots too, why not a little more stress for the plants, they are already so far behind/stunted!

Pulled out the Ak just before the light came on and hid her in the closet for the day in the dark so I can get at the Chop Chop tonight.

Out with the old in with the new..... The Jabb Stash that's been inconveniencing the veg room get s her spot in the flower room!:thumb: Aaaand were full once again, just for the next day or so..... Cheese is next on the chopping block!

Sure nice to get the veg room back but like last time I think it ll fill up quick. Right now there are 2 AK clones at day 25, White Widow clone at day 19, 3 more White widow clones at day 10, Jack Herrer&Northern Lights at day 22, another Ak clone at day 10... And that's it for the veg room.

In the flower room are the JabbStash Reveg at day 38, White Widow at day 20, JabbaStash regular at day 20 and the Cheese ball at a wafty gank smelling day 50. I love the smoke of this girl, best I ve grown ever by far!! I ll throw some pics of the harvest tonight maybe even tomorrow. :high-five:

AK looking water stressed, all else looks top notch. Great job and nice garden.

Cheers
