Today , I seem to have an issue!!
I noticed my leaves on the Mimosa Cake especially where starting to look as if they were curling up, like clawing! I don't know if anyone else has experienced this or not??
Not sure if it's a genetic thing or whether there's something wrong. Only thing I can find is temps are too high?? Anyone else had this issue recently??
I am struggling like hell atm. Just waiting for my CO2 & humidifier to arrive. I cant reduce temps yet without an air con unit, so I'm just hoping that these will help the plants deal with higher temps etc.....fingers crossed ....
here's the clawing .....

20210627_104310553_iOS.jpg

I would say the curling up is 100% temp related. I usually see it with high temp or low humidity if you can get another fan on them that may help in the meantime. Whats the temp and humidity at?

I've had to raise the light again lol! Even though the plants like it close, the heat is just too much right now. So I've reduced power to 75% & increased height back to 24". When It's cool outside It's fine, but as soon as that sun comes out it just gets hotter than the sun up there!! I'm just going to have to keep adjusting until new things arrive!

Even with the temp issue's & curly leaves, Mimosa still seems to be maturing faster than the rest. Leaves look slightly better today....I think!

Sorry to bother ya on a Sunday buddy, hope your having a good weekend :thumb:

The 4th Nodes out & she looks like this. Ready for topping or shall I hold on?

Repeating what @Trala asked. Any tips on keeping those arms straight when training begins?

:adore:Again, appreciate the help mate so TIA!! :adore:

That's it then, all up to date.....for now!

@Bud Love How we doin fella? Same to you & hope your having a chilled weekend also. I'm still looking into this water situation. Bit more complicated than I originally thought

I may have jumped in at the deep end but things still seem to be going ok! Once I have more info I shall post it up :thumb:

:circle-of-love:Apologies to all If I've not been keeping up with everyone's journals recently,:circle-of-love:

Had masses going on at the moment & I've just not had the hours in the day. I'm not being rude so please forgive me :adore:

Will see you all on your side soon!

All good mate. Busy trying to sort out the outside gardens. I tend to neglect those  Plagued with dandelions and thistles. Yeah I'm always trying to keep things as cheap as possible. Haven't needed a humidifier yet but I've got a bigger tent on the way so we'll see.

I'd be happy to go ahead and top now. See what Justin says though. To train the arms out I just move the tie down further along the branch as it grows. Adjust every day or so depending on how quick it's growing.
Ya I’d go ahead and do it in the next day or 2. I generally let those 2 branches get a tiny bit longer before I pinch the top off.
As for keeping them straight- the earlier you start training, the straighter they can fly. I usually start a day or 2 after topping. Some plants don’t like to stay straight.
Spend lots of time doing small training stuff and keeping the branches going the right level and keeping proper height. Every day I adjust something because it changes every day. Eventually a day comes when I stop training and others may keep going. I’m about 3-5 days from that on my GSC, almost time to just let her rip!

Nice! Totally didn't think about light adjustment even though I had to do the same. We are in a heat wave over here so I'm also fighting temps.

I hate gardening bro!! Didn't think I would but I do now! We've been trying to sort it out for a while & finally getting there.
The Mrs got some vouchers for Frosts garden centre, (dunno if you've heard of it, but basically you go there, buy some plants, get ya pants ripped down & leave feeling violated) £30.00 vouchers!!
Well, we went, got to the checkout & Doris was like " £180.00 Please ". (for some flowers??) The Mrs handed me the vouchers....
" Cheers!" :thumb:
I coughed up a fur ball & left wondering what the feck just happened :hmmmm::lot-o-toke:
She was like " They'll look nice though!" .......

Stick with the dandelions & thistles buddy!

Hey mate.
Hope y’all good ya!
You could make some of these out of some garden wire.. make em as long as you want.. sometimes you’ve gotta send em in deep to stop em slipping back out.

peace an buds to ya matey:)
FFS!! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

You've been over at @Squiggle 's too much clearly
Mrs saw it, she said do blokes EVER grow up?? I'm like "Naaaaah babe, gimme a pen n all I wanna do is draw a cock n balls, tag it with ' Sticky woz ere ' & bounce!" Standard behaviour........right???

I notice yours is a bit wobbly in the middle :high-five:

Thanks very much dude & @VetSmoke85!

I really appreciate the help guy's, I know it's a chore when you've got a newbie in the group & probably going over stuff that you've already said a million times. I know I could probably just try things out myself but I've got so much in this that I can't really afford to be making mistakes!
Again, thanks for the support &..........patience :laughtwo::adore:

Ha, that's why I'm fighting a losing battle at the moment bro, feel a bit like Boris Johnson :hmmmm: :lot-o-toke: .
I have high temps AND low humidity.
Avg. temp is around 31 C & can creep up to 35/36 C, RH struggles to get to 50 % bro as my humidifier just cant handle the area & fans.
It is really not good!
Girl's have been ok until now but they are starting to show signs of stress :nervous-guy:
Things are on their way so hopefully I can get it sorted asap.
Teething problems dude, I stepped from the frying pan into the fryer. I did so well on my last one I think I may have got a bit over confident, not really realising what was needed for this bigger space.
But hey, it's all good..plus, I have my 4th emergency service :)420: you guy's) on speed dial to help me out :circle-of-love:

Now that I have the new Humi the RH is rising, slowly but surely...it's rising!
I took a leaf temp reading earlier & this is the results....

@Bud Love

Conclusion on the carbonated water

NOT GOOD FOR REGULAR USE!

So the fizzy pop is complicated. Yes it's good for plants that like Alkalinity in the soil.

As Bud love told me, when you add CO2 to water it reduces the PH. But, as the CO2 depletes, the PH rises & will continue to rise.

With more reading I discovered that If you use fizzy water all the time, eventually it will strip the calcium & fries the roots so they can't absorb nutes & water....

On the other hand.

Used at the right time, occasionally, can boost & aid growth/recovery.

So, when topping or putting the plant through STRESS. You can water with fizzy water straight after & notice a boost within the next 10 days. After that, resume with normal feeding.

To be honest people, I thought I stumbled on a new trick but in the end, Just not worth the effort. I don't think I'll continue..

for now at least.

Tense evening to come, ladies have all had their training so fingers crossed they recover well & continue to thrive.

:cool:Good evening everyone

Well, no point beating about the bush is there (no pun intended)!
I've broke some branches & completely snapped a couple as well :lot-o-toke:
Absolute Bell**d!!
Good job these aren't Wasabi plants & slightly more resilient lol
My Mimosa Cake is no longer a Octoline & is now a hexline, barely!! The bottom 2 branches just snapped off when trying to train then another ALMOST snapped, hanging on by a thread; but still growing so I have supported it.

Things are never as easy as they look, especially when your watching someone who's been doing it for 30 years! They just make it look easy. But, it's all a learning curve & mistakes are bound to happen!
Here's mimosa after the first attack...

I don't know how it's surviving..but it is!
Here's purple punch, looking slightly confused but still....

& the other 2 seem to be going ok, not as big as Mimosa but chugging along all the same.

Hey guy's, hope all's well in the growing community :high-five:

So this weekend I received an email from a seed bank I subscribe to asking for help from growers. Instead of me writing it all out, I have pasted the contents below;

Last week, we wrote about an anonymous survey recently launched by The Global Cannabis Cultivation Research Consortium (GCCRC) to help learn more about cannabis growers.

The GCCRC uses this data to help push sensible cannabis reform across the world.

The response has been incredible, so much so, we’re linking the survey once again and telling you a bit more about why it’s important.

If you grow cannabis and want drug policies to follow evidence rather than political ideology, please help us by taking part in this survey.

Why we need you

The winds of cannabis policy change are blowing.

Over 40 countries, from Argentina to Zimbabwe, have legalised cannabis for medical use, and the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime has followed World Health Organisation advice to reschedule cannabis under international law in recognition of its therapeutic potential. An increasing number of countries have decriminalised recreational cannabis use as well, including allowing for some home-growing of the plant. A small handful of countries, and a growing number of US States, have gone further, legalising recreational cannabis through regulated markets. In Canada and California, this is proving to be big business, generating large amounts of tax income for the public purse.

In Uruguay, the industry remains under state control. But in all models, the legalisation of cannabis and the removal of the market from the hands of organised crime is reducing harm. Consumers can be more confident in the purity and potency of what they are buying.

Breaking the link with organised crime means reducing the overlap with serious offences like people trafficking, modern-day slavery, and murder. Pressures are taken off the criminal justice system and the threat of arrest is removed from the hundreds of thousands of people who use cannabis, but are otherwise law-abiding citizens. Tax revenues can contribute to health services and drug education campaigns, and supplement other areas of public spending.

The advantages of legalisation are many, yet the majority of countries maintain strict prohibitionist laws and potentially long prison sentences for growing cannabis. The winds of change have a lot more blowing to do yet.

We’ve done this before

The GCCRC launched the first wave of this survey back in 2012 as we felt the general public – and policymakers – typically had a very unrealistic view of people who grow cannabis. Thanks to the contribution of over 6500 growers worldwide, our researchers were able to publish more than 20 scientific papers, which have helped challenge stereotypes of cannabis growers. Some of our key findings include:

  • Although most young (the median age of our respondents was 27) men (92%), cannabis growers are found across all social and demographic groups. There is no such thing as a ‘stereotypical grower’.
  • Most cannabis growers are hard-working taxpayers; only 7% are unemployed. Moreover, only 4% have committed crimes other than their cannabis-related activities. Thus, any suggestions that cannabis growers are from the margins of society, are cheating the system, or are habitual criminals, are wrong.
  • Cannabis growers would prefer to grow outdoors but often grow indoors to minimise the risk of getting caught. This varies across countries: 76% of UK and 80% of US, but only 33% of Dutch and 17% of Australian, respondents grew indoors. Indoor growers can use a lot of high-power lighting and other specialist equipment and can carry a large carbon footprint. But indoor growing is often a response to prohibition. Legalisation would allow more people to choose to grow outdoors, in natural conditions.
  • Most growers stay small, averaging 5 plants each (peaking at 9 plants per grower in Austria and Switzerland, and only 3 in Belgium). Growers do not seek to produce large amounts – they prioritise quality over quantity!
  • As shown in the table below, the vast majority of growers are motivated to grow cannabis to reduce their spending and avoid contact with the illegal market and ‘real’ criminals, to control the quality and potency of the cannabis they consume, or for aesthetic, ideological or altruistic reasons. Only a small minority of growers sell cannabis for profit; people tend to get involved in cannabis growing to avoid illegal markets rather than to become drug dealers.
  • In some countries, chemical fertilizers, supplements and insecticides were widespread (e.g., 35% of Danish, 45% of Australian, and 61% of UK growers). Unfortunately, many of these products are poorly labelled and contain harmful ingredients. Worryingly, many growers (26% of Danes, 41% of Australians, and 61% of Brits) believe that ‘flushing’ is an effective way of removing chemical residues. It isn’t! Cannabis growers can be inadvertently involved in harmful growing practices due to misinformation.

The 2021 survey

We’re back in 2021 with an even better survey, available in more countries and languages, and better tailored to what’s happening around the world now. Please help us continue to set the record straight by taking part.

To find out more – and to participate in our research click here

All survey responses are strictly anonymous, we do not ask for any personal data or contact details, and we do NOT record your IP address.

If you have any questions or want to know more about the research we have published so far, please email Dr Gary Potter, University of Lancaster, at g.potter2@lancaster.ac.uk or visit our website.

I will do whatever I can to help change the law's in the UK with regards to growing cannabis for personal use.
I completed this survey yesterday, it took around 20 mins & the questions are very generalised, not personal. they ask age, location (roughly), profession, reason for growing & how you grow etc etc.
The more & more of these surveys that are put forward to our governments the more chance we have of changing the political ideology that surrounds cannabis cultivation.
If you have time in your busy day then please take a few minutes to complete this survey & help towards the fight :high-five::thumb:

:lot-o-toke: WEEK 3 VEG :lot-o-toke:
(DAY 22)

I've had a complete mare with 2 of these girl's...absolute nightmare if I'm honest. I'm obviously just really clumsy, heavy handed & impatient! The mimosa cake has pretty much been mutilated. I don't get it, all I can think of is I've tried doing it all too soon. I would pin down branches & they were fine, but the when I return about an hour so later, the branch had snapped & hanging on by a thread. My attempt of an Octoline on her has now resulted in just 5 main branches left & one of those is broken :nervous-guy:
Same story with Kosher cake.....absolute nightmare. I got the hang of it with purple punch & Bruce banner. These two seem to be coping better. All plants have recovered & are still growing strong, I've just had many 'oops' moments along the way. But hey, first time with all this......so that's my excuse
Anyway, some pictures, these girls are all due a top dressing end of next week.

Catch you all soon :thumb:
