Subnoise's Sour Monster Grow

Thanks guys.
Buddro I use the new cocotek that comes loose in a bag. Got a great deal I couldn't pass up on.

Been a very ruff last couple days. 5 days of rain and more to come. My humidity levels were getting to high. Ran out got a dehumidifier Tuesday and noticed a little temp increase. Last night I decided to vent my hps hood. I ran all the plumbing to everything checked on the ladies and rolled out. Checked on everything this morning since I run my lights at night. Immediately noticed a problem, it's was frikin hot 102 to be exact. Had to get to work thinking the dehue was the culprit I moved it to the room my fresh air comes from. When I got home I ran to see how the temp and rh were. Humidity was high in flower room but not intake room. Then I realized my door wasn't closed I use vacuum from the exhaust to seal the door. But the exhaust fan was running. Can't find my green flash light so had to wait for lights on to evaluate the situation.

Found it. Of all the times something like this could happen. Why now? With my venting split I was just circulating hot air. The plants seem fine but they all drank a lot last night.

Temp and humidity right at the light. After rearranging my vent system back to my original setup. Now just have to let everything stabilize and get new readings tomorrow.

Controller temp a little above the light.

Canopy temp.

How the setup looks now. Most importantly no huge hole in the venting.

I was updating the dwc on Wednesdays, but just didn't have time. So here is some Deathstar and bud porn

Last but not least Cali Connection 818 Headband. Very exciting.

Good you caught that. Heat stress screws the yield. So I used to run into dehumidifier problems. I'd personally just run it in there at lights off then the lights and exhaust should keep the humidity at bay with lights on.

Thanks everyone hopefully that's the last scare for a while. Checked the temps this morning high was 77 and low was 75 so score on that. Luckily the flush has started on my small hempys and the dwc only has 2 weeks left. No smell or signs of root rot after the high temps. Hopefully yield won't be affected to badly. Only really concerned about Deathstar but she is still getting silica so hopefully that will help.

Do you get the regular CocoTek and mix in your own perlite.. etc, or do you use the CocoTek PX with everything mixed in already?

Thanks brother.

Buddy Buddro. I actually used both. When I walked in the grow store they had a 5$ sign above them but they only had 1 of each so I picked them both up. The px seemed about the same mix as I usually do roughly 50/50 mix. The other bag gets amended with perlite as usual. I might try coco loco next. Hope that helps bro.

I've been a farmer for a long time, I've mixed a lot of potting soil. It wasn't until I started growing cannabis that I saw people using such high mixtures of perlite. 50/50 mix is just WAY to much perlite. It's really to much. 75/25 tops seems to be about perfect to me.. Less is probably better. Someone edumacate my ass!

From my understanding the more oxygen to the roots the better. I have grown in 100% perlite before with no issues. Just have to water more frequently cause it doesn't hold moisture like coco does. I have been running a test though on the twins I call them. One has 100% coco the other has a 50/50 perlite mix. Harvest is set for next weekend. Results will be posted. But as of now I'm guessing very similar results. They literally look like twins from the day they were cloned.

I've said this billions of times on here. Cannabis is very different than most crops minus hops. It's very easy to experiment with but has huge variables.

Growing in straight perlite I've seen 19 ozs off one plant personally

In most plants your 100% correct. I'd never grow my fruit in straight perlite.

yes, but how did it taste? To me, it's not all about yield. The old addage Quality > Quantity. I'm curios about sub's test and how they taste more so than how much each one yields. If all I cared about was yeild sure, but I want to grow the best tasting bud. Sure I can get a gallon jug of wine for $9.99, but that $15 botle tastes a hell of a lot better. I am growing "organically" because of taste, and I know that when I have grown hydro tomatoes in the past, they were about the worst tasting thing i've ever tried tomatoe wise. Just like I know that I could grow bigger yields with GMO veggies, I know I can get bigger yields out of a hydro plant. The same goes for bud, i can definatley tell when a bud has been grown in dirt, or pumped full of bottled nutes and hydro grown.. there is a difference.

Looking forward to the taste test because its very interesting to see these plants(weeds) growing in 100% perlite. I've seen people do cuttings in 100% perlite a lot, but never seen anything else grown in 100% perlite. I'm just not sure where the flavors come from in 100% perlite.

My weed all test over 21% or gets executed

It was fine just the terpene profile wasn't as prevalent as soil and I didn't continue that route.

I yield 8oz minimum each plant and as for quality I got second at cannabis cup last year so think my quality is at least ok.

Sounds like you need some High Brix in your life.

Cool! thanks for the responses.

Hi Subnoise, your plants are looking great as always, your grow rocks, I wish I have space as big as you do!
And about the ducting- I think the best tape to tape your ducting with would be aluminium tape. And let me give few tips on how to I tape- First get some alcohol (ethanol, acetone) and clean the taped surface, stick your hand into the ducting (if you can) to act as a counter pressure when applying the tape, tape. Thats how I and my friend (who is mounting A/C and ducting for a living) do it. Happy growing. :Namaste:

Thx Tomula. I also use aluminum tape for just about everything. This particular instance the ducting got replaced rather than repaired.

So I moved the dehue back into the flower room since I'm not sure it was the culprit after all. Set her to 45% hung out with the girls for a bit and everything looked great. Here are my readings for last night's light cycle. Gonna try 40 Tonight and see what the temps do. But last night's results were awesome

Sink Bomb!!!!!!!!!! This is actually the first way I learned to germinate seeds. Little swick system then I just put it somewhere dark.

White Voodoo responded amazingly to the defol. She was back to growing the next day. Still pinching nodes here and there but she is building a sweet canopy, and it's getting more even everyday. Have a great weekend 420
