TerpKing - First Grow - Dr Krippling Incredible Bulk - Hydro - 600W MH/HPS

Maybe ot is tbe pebbles. Ive never had that problem before. 5.5-6.0 os perfect for that set up. Make sure you allow it to rise before yoi readjust.

Remind me what ec your tap water is mate and why you didnt use it.

Its looking good for a first attempt at growing, you should get a nice result. Start looking for bud rot mid week 6 as it can be a problem with the bulk due to its density. Other than that there isnt much for you to do now other than wait.

Someone taught you well mate ;)

So I decided to leave the pebbles in the glass over night, I checked it again this morning and it's now up at 6.2.

That would explain why my res always ends up back around 6.2/6.3.

Yeah I don't think many people have had this problem pal, I think I've just been unlucky by the looks of it and got a dodgy bag. It could be the R/O not having much buffer though where as normal tap water has a bit more. I'm honestly not sure though, all I know is they make my PH rise. Yeah I've been allowing it to rise before readjusting, I've definitely been doing it a lot less than I was, I just keep an eye on it to make sure it's with in a reasonable range. Usually just once a day at lights on now.

My tap water comes out at 0.6 EC. The reason I decided to go with R/O was I thought I would get a better end product, that and I thought my EC was high and had no idea what was init. Now I've seen your plants doing really well with 0.7 EC I'm wondering if mine is really that bad. If it's high it doesn't leave as much room to add nutrients though, or do you just allow a bit more if the tap water EC is higher?

I thought about maybe mixing half R/O and half tap water to add some buffer and that would maybe make my water around 0.3 EC, that or 20% tap water added back to the total R/O I use. Do you have any experience with that or know if it can work. I only know what I've read when looking for solutions online.

Thanks cult, I thought things were not looking too bad either. I'm really chuffed with how things are going so far. I feel like I've learned quite a bit too. Definitely thinking about ways to maximise the space better and improve on things for my next run :). I will keep an eye for the rot, don't worry about that. It's a sneaky fucker though isn't it, doesn't it usually start from the inside and work its way out? Just the waiting game now then, let's hope time doesn't go too slowly.

I've definitely had a good teacher, some say he's one of the best . .

I've also heard of people adjusting PH in the wrong direction first, but then adjusting back to the desired level. Supposedly this provides a better buffer and stability.

I have no idea if this is a smart thing to do but seems like it could work.

I think I may have read a little something about that actually now you say it Ebb! I also have no idea if it is the smart thing too do, would be interested in knowing if it works though!

I've read that people having the same problem with the clay pebbles as me soaked them in water and kept adjusting the PH back down to a lower level for a couple of weeks until the clay pebbles changed PH. That also sounds interesting too.

You could mix half and half water that will stabilise it a bit for sure.
Say I mixed in enough tap water to bring the EC up to 0.2 would I add 0.2 calmag to bring it up to 0.4. If I happened to mix straight half and half and I got an EC around 0.3 would I just add 0.1 calmag to the mix. Just trying to get some ideas of what I could do.

Hey hey everyone! So it's time for an update.

Just starting the beginning of the 5th week of flower today, day no 29.

Things seem to be going very well this week. I made one little mistake though. I let the right hand side HPS get just a little too close to a few of the buds on that side of the tent. I caught it pretty early on, the very tips of a few of the buds had just started turning white from where the light intensity must have been a little too much and they started to get bleached. Hopefully shouldn't cause too much damage as I caught it quickly. That's why it pays to keep an eye on them to make sure they're looking happy and healthy. They recovered pretty quickly from defoliation too. I did however notice they're taking more water than nutrients since their trim, I'm assuming that's as they have less foliage to maintain? The ladies seem to have also stopped stretching now and seem to be more interested in fattening up and getting frosty, not that I'm complaining about that ;)!

As it's Monday and the beginning of a fresh week for the girls, it was time to change the reservoir out fresh, as usual. The feed exactly the same as last week.

Plant Magic Magne-cal 0.4 EC
Growth Technology Ionic Bloom 1.1 EC
Buddha's Tree PK 9-18 0.25ml a litre
Buddha's Tree Metaboost 1ml a litre
Growth Technology Liquid Silicon for PH adjustment.

Final EC 1.6 PH 5.5

Heres some pictures of what's been doing on over the last week.

Haha thanks pal, everything is really starting to fatten up now too, it's starting to look awesome. I'll get some more pictures up and a little update at lights on so you can have a look ;)!

When you think they are finished just wait. They will get denser and denser. 8-8.5weeks should be good.
Thanks for the advice cult, looking forward to watching them swell and then swell some more ;)! Awesome, I'll start my flush at the beginning of week 8 and then I'll be keeping an eye on them for signs of them being ready to come down :)!

Just a little update for you all, things are going well. Ladies are starting to get sticky and have a nice aroma starting to come off them, smells really lovely and sweet!

Here's some pictures of how they're getting on!

Its looking really nice. Smell for me is very fruity like old tutti fruity sweets. Citrus sweet, not weedy or skunky at all.
