Newbies

Ive been on this forum a little over a year now and Ive become very callous to a certain demographic that likes to particpate in our party. In the beginning when I got here I was wide eyed and eager to absorb everything I could. I read the guidlines and rules and pretty much evrything posted here. I purchased some books and read them a few times. As I became a little more proficient in my craft I wanted to share what Ive learned and gleaned from the other pros here.
I dont consider myself a pro by any means but I can grow some decent bud and I havent really killed anything yet (plants I mean).
What Im getting at is the demgraphic that doesnt want to take the time to read. They just dont want to research. they want the short answer on how to grow. Every day I look at the threads here and every day I see a newbie post a question on "insert common question" and they dont like the answer they get. So this person will post the same question on another thread hoping they get the answer they want.
All they truly need is the info posted here. They dont want to spend the time. Ive actually had people tell me "I dont want to read I just want the answer"....hmmm well most of the time the answer will generate numerous questions that I need to ask because they dont have any idea of what they are doing. The answers to those numerous questions are already answered here on our numerous "stickies". I have all the time in the world to help a beginner as long as they are willing to help themselves. I have no time for them if they dont. I guess Ive become jaded but I cant help it. Does anyone believe that they can just learn how to grow by buying some "miracle grow"...not likely. I think that person is destined to fail. I asked alot of good questions and I got alot of good answers. As time went on I didnt need to ask too many questions. But I still need to ask sometimes..no one can know everything. I learn daily by reading and growing. I never stop learning something new. Im willing to share that info with anyone freely if they want to take the time. My father taught me to never argue with an hardhead. it serves no purpose. Ive ranted enough.

well pit you are exactly right and sometimes I do the wrong thing and start answering them when I know damn well that they are not going to get anything from what I say if they don't do a little homework at least.
I recall a newbie who didn't know how to germinate and was going straight to -tell me what soil to buy
tell me what nutes to buy
tell me what lights to buy
and then he said I will grow it in a cedar closet so there's no humidity and thats all after, you asked them to read a little, that was the end for me.I came on here and read went out got some stuff got it growing and then started posting and I got such a great freindly response that I became a member and the rest is history,I beg to differ on you being a pro.there are a number of you who are in an upper bracket,I cant name all but its mostly the 1s who have put out money for great lights etc.hten there are those who grow a good qty. but just with smaller lights.
then like me who grow a couple of plants but use good lighting but small.but you big players I consider,
you
gmt1975
cherma
butcher
could go on and on but bottom line your right.

I Know who your referring to bro

I can dig that. damn, u been smoking some mind reader kush or somethin? I feel like if they don't wanna help themselves, fuck em. I've heard (with my ears) a person try to ask for some1 elses blue print (they were dialed in) to apply for personal/commercial gain while offering no monetary compensation. I don't think they realize how much time, trial and error, lost/sacrificed plants, mold/pest problems and money invested it takes to conquer theses obstacles b4 getting dialed in. Then some folks just want u to ''give'' them all of ur hard work? Get the fuck outa here. I'm with u on this 1 bro.

Right on PitViper I can not stop reading and learning If i ask a lot of questions it is only due my thirst for knowledge. Answers always pose more in depth questions and why should you or anyone do the thinking and work for anyone else I am disabled bad but refuse to let that happen, Thank You for re-affirming what I already knew and for the good advice in your thread and here.

Although I don't yet consider myself a proficient grower, I have seen exactly what you are talking about. It's really the same in life. There are people who just want the shortcut without spending time/effort/money. I have been trying to make a go of growin for two years now, and I can honestly say that I have learned more since I joined 420 in July than in the previous two years. Much of that came from other members like yourself, but alot came from just reading the resource material here. My current grow is the strongest looking grow I've ever had, and that is the result of applying what I've learned and hard work. You can't get there if you ain't willing to put in the time. Well said my friend!

:thanks: :adore:

PitViper, My compliments to the chef. In response to my many, many, questions you indeed communicated what I was looking for. A wealth of information, the "spark" to get me and the motor on the right road. When needed I may prevail on your kindness once again as I am truly at another crossroads in my life.

Great insight Pit to have a great grow or be great at anything one has to live it, breath it, and enjoy doing it. In years gone by and as I am getting ready today I could spend hours "lost" in my garden, planning, working, adjusting, cultivating, and dreaming. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing we have done something great, that others will truly appreciate, savor, and thoroughly enjoy.

The best shortcut to weed is to just go buy it. Growing is about learning; I don't know how one can do this without an inquisitive mind.

Growing is hard work even with the books but thanks to all the great people on this forum they can make sense out of the madness

Growing is hard work, but in the end you learn a craft and toke with pride on what you've grown....can say you know what it takes to be a grower. Learning is never easy nor is the path of life it wasn't meant to be.
Read, grow and learn and never-EVER be afraid of making a mistake (especialy in spelling) in your attempt.

hey i saw that youre willing to help the newb's here. well, i am ready for my first grow, and honestly i just made this account today so once i figure this site out a little more i might find some more answers, but can you maybe give me a list of strains i should go for? I'm all about sativa, so no indica. I'll be growing indoors, about 4 - 8 plants, and im more worried about the quality than the time it takes to harvest. I'll be using soil instead of hydroponics, and seeds instead of clone's. can you give me some suggestions on strains? and any other advice, when i say I'm new to growing, I mean BRAND new

This is the best post EVER. I wanted to go on a rant and I see that this happens all the time. As a first time grower it makes me irritated that people are clogging the forums with " so what do I need to grow? how do I set it up? when do I wipe my ass?" That's what google is for. I did hours and hours of researching and reading and acquiring as much information as I could before I started. I still do tons of searching and reading and learning everyday. The basics are easy. its when you get down to diagnosing issues etc that isn't as easily found. I appreciate that this site has some amazing experts and years of growing experience. Basically it makes all new growers look bad and lazy and not fully vested in this endeavor. I appreciate the work that is put into it and completing your first grow, and continue to learn through mistakes. I ask for answers to stuff that i can't find on my own or what i have tried isn't working. Anywhooo I obviously need another brownie and glass of wine lol.

RANT OVER:tokin:

superthrive is great just dont over do it 1 teaspoon for 5 gal bucket and I put one cap full of organic magic grow into the 5 gal buckett then one teaspoon of Superthrive I use rain water ---I do have something special growing 2 train wrecks 1 big bud 4 dwarf auto's this is my first grow and things are going real well---you get what U pay for. I have a grow tent with 540 watt LED good air good nutrients and it all comes together in my grow pictures soon!!!because i have good air flow I mist them 10x a day I am a school teacher so no work summer. By the way( Superthrive is just a bunch of plant roots liquified ) and organic plant food any-kind is just plants liquefied (mushed up plants ) Thats why Superthrive will grow roots because it is a bunch of plant roots enzymes to begin with
