You harvested a tad early, that could of been few weeks extra.

I once grew out a strain by Nirvana i believe it was Blue Mystic a cutting from a particular runt of a plant which pretty much showed amber tric's around the 4th week with some pistols turning brown & harvested on the end of the 7th week of flowering with good results, grew that strain several times from cuttings.

I would imagine this could be a phenotype expression in faster maturing plants for cash croppers via breeding a perfectly valid reason.

These are my current Malawi and Zamaldelica flowers. Both should flower 10-12 weeks. Please enlarge and give me an opinion on the amount of brown pistols at this age. Today they are at 40 days of flowering. Does this look appropriate at this age? I’m also monitoring trichomes very closely. Any input would be appreciated.

Totally agree with MrFortwenty... you are harvesting way way too early. The last two weeks of an 8 week grow are when at least half of the bulk is put onto the buds. You have never gotten there. Also, the color of the pistils has absolutely nothing to do with the maturity of the buds. What you need to be looking at is the crystals on the leaves, the Trichomes. With a loupe or a good magnifying glass you can see those little mushroom shaped crystals and can determine if they are clear, cloudy or amber colored. You are not ready to harvest until at least a percentage of them, usually at least 5-10% are amber, and none of them are clear.

These are current flowers at 32 days. They are developing well, I think, but am already seeing brown pistols. When I took the earlier Maui plants to eight weeks, it ruined the expected high.
I had same issue on my first couple grows and seeked out advice which was to up my light wattage to at least 40w per plant and i was only at about half that. My plants would do great in veg and the first few weeks in flower then would just stop growing and rapidly shoot for harvest. My understanding is that my low wattage lights could give all it could and by switching to 12/12 not enough light during on cycle to properly mature so it made it mature really fast which kept it too small and really small airy buds but completely ready for harvest. Ya need more intensity from lights
