Experienced Feedback Needed

Hello all 👋

Growing outdoors and I live in Toronto, Canada. I usually grow indoors so my outdoor growing experience is a little on the amateur side.
The weather is quickly changing to the colder side. Night temperatures are anywhere from 3 to 5 degrees celcius and daytime is between 8 to 14 degrees celcius.
I'm at the end of week 7 of flowering (AK 47). Water uptake is very slow and leaves are changing drastically. Seeing the recent pics attached, would it be OK to harvest soon? I'm looking for more of a "head high" rather than body. Or should I ride it out and wait a bit longer?
I don't want any plant degrading to happen, obviously.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Peace ✌️

2nd wk of october is usually all you can push them in most parts of canada before a killing frost. cannabis stalls at 14c and stops developing.

you can't generate enough heat during day hours now to make much of a difference. you'll probably have a few more days as the ground temp is more important than the air temp.

they look like they could use 2 - 3 wks more at a minimum. i'd consider finishing indoor if possible.

Hey buddy :ciao:
Girls look great.
I'm about 7 hrs north of you.
I think you Girls are just entering the harvest window.
If you can get another week or so 8d try.
They are still swelling.
But if things go south weather wise you can start chopping.
Congrats, nice work.

Does it help if it is covered and protected from the elements? (Rain, etc.)
I can't bring them inside. If I harvest early will I still get the desired effects?
Thanks for replying 🙂

that tent definitely helps. it'll buy you a few days for sure and avoid the worst of the bud rot if stuff gets wet.

what it won't do is help if the temps drop further. keep an eye on the forecast. i used to pull my outdoor when we got the first killing frost. it would take some of the bud but not enough for me to care. i had a longer season though as it was west coast or interior mountains.

it won't be as good as getting them to full maturity. how well it does depends on how long it can continue to develop. a lot of home outdoor in canada is done for volume extract, individual plant potency is not as much a factor in that.

This tent or mini greenhouse is great. Good job setting it up.

Yes. If I am seeing it right you have some clear plastic sheeting that will allow sunlight to hit plants and it will also allow the inside to heat up close to 22C or a bit higher. Not only will the inside be warmer during the day but it will allow the soil that is protected by the tent to stay warm which will help at night since some of that soil heat will radiate into the air inside the tent.

Plus it might be surprising just how much Lake Ontario's water temperatures affect the air temps in Toronto and anywhere along and within several miles/kilometers of the shoreline.

Very possible that you could get two more weeks if you want the extra time but that is based on what it is like here in southeast Michigan and the Detroit and Windsor metro area. Another week with that tent looks very possible.

Water uptake is very slow and leaves are changing drastically.
As the temperatures dropped the plant slows down and slower growth will slow down the need for water.

You are pretty close to where you want to be. @Bill284 brings up another week or so to allow for the buds to swell up some. Not more buds and next to no changes in the leaves but the buds that are looking mature can very easily get a bit more plump. I have seen it happen on some of my outdoor plants even when the daytime temps were in the 60 to 70 F range and nights at 35F.

Just checked and your weather in Toronto for the next week will be similar to what is expected in Detroit/Windsor. No freezing temperatures and some partly sunny days mixed in.

harvest NOW for you head high !!! but then again old hippies saying -- when you want to pull them give them a extra week or two Your trichomes are (seem) all cloudy which means the plant is at it's highest THC value

So I chopped the one plant that I posted pics for in this chat. It's in the dry room right now. Spent all night trimming ✂️ 🪴
My second plant that is still in the outside greenhouse right now is nowhere close to being harvested. So I thought if I wrapped the planter with a warming mat and then wrapped a blanket around it as well I might buy a few more days without harm? The leaves are still green with no discoloration and it seems to still be taking in water through the root system.
Any thoughts?
I really don't want to harvest this plant right now as it is still a few weeks behind... 😔

The Toronto weather forecast is still calling for above freezing temperatures for the next week. The tent by itself should be sufficient to keep the plant going. I do not see any need to go through the extra work of a heat mat and a blanket at this time.

For my outdoor grow I pulled it because I can't handle the change to cooler weather like I used to. And as I was getting ready I noticed the very first signs of bud rot and I just did not want to fight that standing outside with my fingers getting stiff from the cool air. Getting old is getting exciting to see what is going to happen next.;).
