Hello everyone, I am new as a poster to this forum but I have been lurking for a while for good tips.
I am an expat, Originally from Quebec, and living now in europe in the alp region. I have been growing back in Canada but not since I moved here a few years ago. During a trip to Amsterdam, I bought a pack of 5 seeds from the greenhouse seed company "Jack Herer feminized".
They hung out in a drawer for a few year and I forgot about them, but this year my wife and I decided to setup a small garden on the balcony. I tought it would be a good time to try the seeds. I wanted to keep it low key so I would grow two of them naturally, on my balcony that is facing south and benefits from a nice alpine breeze during most of the summer. So my initial setup was pretty simple :
- 2 x 40L pots
- Pretty standard gardening dirt, made for tomatoes and cucumbers
- 2 x GH Jack Herer seeds
So I planted the seeds on June 17th and both sprouted without problem directly in the dirt within two days :
For the first few weeks , I let them grow with a bit of watering and no fertilizer. Starting on first of July, I started using fertilizer on both of them. I bought some Bio-Grow for the vegetative phase and bio-bloom+top max for the flowering phase .
Here is the girls on July 9th, 2ml/L of bio-grow at this point :
At this point I decided to cut them. One was accidently FIM'ed, the other splitted in 3 main branch , here is the result on July 13th :
July 18th (4ml/L of bio-grow now) :
July 24th :
July 29th :
August 11th :
Around this period , the first sign of flowering start showing up. The summer was very sunny and very hot, and the girls seem to enjoy it, here they are on August 14th, at this point I start giving bio-grow 2ml/l, bio-bloom 2ml/L :
August 19th :
A friend of mine took two of my seeds and has grown then at his place. He cut them 3 times and they ended up being much shorter and bushier than mines. We will see who has the best yield at the end ! He left for vacation for a few weeks, so his plants spent some time on my balcony. By now I have a forest of Jack herer out there !
My friends plants before the move to my balcony :
August 31th :
September 4th :
September 16th bio-bloom 4ml/L + top-max 2ml/L:
September 19th :
In the last few days, it got a bit colder and the flowering really took off, I am quite impressed at some of the buds !
September 27th :
This plant is getting better and better. I am running out of fertilizer and the buds are full of crystal and the hairs are slowly turning brown.
Here it is on October 2nd :
So this is the status so far ! I am wondering how long it will take to have these guys ready. The autumn is quite warm this year, but the next few weeks will be very cold . The opinion of other growers would be greatly appreciated !
