Help! Infected plant! Anyone know what this is?

I had a plant given to me by a friend about 3 months ago and at first all was good!

Fast forward to the plant two weeks ago and i found this spot on the stem(picture)...
It then continued to grow so I separated it from my tent and sanitized my tent before germinating
and putting my seedlings in the tent. In the last couple days this spot has grown exponentially and I am
about ready to destroy the plant.. Im worried about infection to my other plants.

If anyone has any knowledge on what this might be or experience of their own with this. I would be forever
grateful. I really dont know how dangerous this is to my other plants or what im dealing with..

OH! And there was initially a branch that ended up just falling out of the stem.

do you have any tips on sanitizing other than alcohol? Im worried about spores being present inside my fans
and my light..

Wash your fan open it and clean it.Wash hands and maybe wipe down the tent if you can.

The grow light is strong enough to kill the spores after hours of exposing them to it so that helps.

I am so sorry to hear this I have been away for a few days, It sounds like BeanTown has you on the track to prevention and cleaning, A fungal anything is bad news on a plant and ya the whole stem was
