Hawk moth? Would that be the same as a hummingbird moth? The area has a lot of weeds growing in it and a lot of slags. I will need several bags of topsoil just to build up the soil. I think it's almost down to the clay dirt. I'm going to put out a hummingbird feeder too. The people next door put a bird feeder complete with bird seed. I thought you were supposed to put that out only in the winter months.

Yes some are called hummingbird moths, did you look at the link? Some weeds you have to get all the roots out to get rid of them. Slags hope that's not slugs, don't smash them, you just spread their eggs.
Add lots of fiber like leaves, dry grass & mulched tree branches, to loosen clay soil
Plant sweet smelling flowers to attract hummingbirds.
Birds got to eat, helps keep them out of your berry & veggie patch. So don't place feeders in your garden.
