hi there this is my first grow ever so any comments are welcome

I have (1) 600w hps lamp
and im growing in soil mixed with horse... shit
i dont know the name of the brand of soil im using but that is not important since its just some local dirt i bougth from a nursery here in iceland..
i have 4 plants and i started them in some crappy grow ligth but then changed to my 2nd hand 600w hps lamp
the nutes im using are a 3 pack of Flora micro, flora grow and flora bloom.
and they are doing good things atleast for me...
my girls are about 2 months and 2 weeks old now and i just turned the ligth circle to 15 ligth and 9 dark today, and will be changing it in a week again to 14/10 and then to 13/11 and then once again to 12/12 and then i will play the waiting game hehe

as you can see it makes all the difference to have some real lamps insted of this bullshit growlux crap but the reason for me having it under that growlux ligth was that i didn´t get my hps until only 3 weeks ago and you can really see how it makes all the difference so this is my first grow and its going pretty damn good so please comment on this project of mine and i know this is alot to ask for but if you can tell me any thing about this strain i would really appriciate it but i know these photos are so bad that noone can really see what is going on... but if you see that i am doing something wrong please tell me and by all means do comment on anything and ask anything.. thank you and i will try to get a better camera than my phone hehe

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

Looking good so far. Keep an eye on your temps. The leaves on your plants are curling upwards, which is a sign of overheating. If you can, I'd raise the light up. 600w is a lot for just 4 plants. The good thing is though, if you decided to grow more you have the capability to do it. :)

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

thank you thank you and thank you once again this is the only thing that has been bothering me.. ok now i know what that is and i will fix it first thing tomorrow morning... they are sleeping now and i dont want to wake my babys hehe... yes i know 600w is a little to mutch but that was exactly what i was thinkin im gonna have 6-7 plants but only 4 survived my stupid growlux bulp so now im waiting for these to finish. i have 4 cuttings and am planning on taking 4 more tomorrow i was just building the space for them to root in today.... but thank you so mutch for that tip on the leaves i have read just about anything i can find on the subject and came up dry everyvere... you are my hero Ms.fox hehe

Was the manure composted, aged, or fresh?

changed to my 2nd hand 600w hps lamp

If you bought it used, you might ask them how many hours are on the bulb. They lose a lot of lumens before our eyes see a difference.

the nutes im using are a 3 pack of Flora micro, flora grow and flora bloom.
and they are doing good things atleast for me...

They're probably the first of the "modern" hydroponics nutrients and work well all by themselves (or with a little CalMag). You're not the first person that I've seen use them for a soil grow by a longshot. If you have "hard water" (more than 200(?) ppm of calcium) you might find the GH Micro Hardwater better than the regular Micro.

Things are looking good!

how many plants is good for a 600w?

It all depends on the size of the plants lol.

my grow space is about 6 x 6 i think but im not sure in meters it is about 2m x 2m

Four square meters is equal to just a hair over 43 square feet.

I know a 600w will cover 6x6ft space.

Hmm... If the 600-watt HPS produces 95,000 initial lumens, that only works out to ~2,639 lumens per square foot in a 36 square foot area. That seems quite low to me.

I would think it would be best for an enclosed area no larger than 19 square feet (1.77 square meters), in a shape that matches the footprint cast by the light's reflector. That would give you around 5,000 lumens per square foot which is still a little low by many people's standards - but higher than other's.

I have actually seen a lot of people recommend 600 watts per square meter (10.77 square feet) but that seems like a lot of lumens to me unless one adds supplemental CO2.

(The above is assuming a new bulb.)

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

hmm the horse manuer was kind of composed not quite tho,
and i have no idea how old the bulp is... but i am gonna go and buy new bulps when i get my pay on the 20th... hehe i went and talked to some owner of a grow shop here and found out that we had mutual friends so he recommended this flora 3 pack for me...

I see your point, and 2500 lumens per plant is the minimum. I have read controversial info as far as how many square feet the 600 is good for. I've read as low as 12.25 sq ft and as high as 36sq ft. HPS being my personal favorite for flowering, I have used a 400w in a 9 sq ft area with outstanding results. Lighting is not my strong point. Still learning. ;-)

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

:thanks: and i will try to post some new pics as soon as i can but im gonna get my self a better camera my phone camera is no good... but i will try to put up some new pics tomorrow or the day after that.....;)

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

ok so i raised the lamp yesterday and i needed to do it again today do to the fact that one of my plants is growing a lot faster than the others as you can see on the pictures below, i also changed the nutes to more P and less N i didnt want to cut out the N just rigth away since i still have some time before this little project of mine is finished, so i decided to give them a small dose of N and well all the other nutes and will be cutting it down on a day by day bases, feel free to tell me that i am doing it wrong and then i migth change it hehe but for now i thogth that was ok... the plants have all started to show some little white pistils on the top of the branches but im not so sure that you can see it becuz i still only have my crappy phone to take pictures...

so here are some new crappy pic´s and thank you all for the comments

thanks l8nigthskunk and i will man....:peace:

these are a week old and are looking better every day thougth id share it with you

i just have them with the other plants in the 15ligth 9dark do you think that is a bad idea?

i am planing on taking more clones today or the day after...

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

thank you jessicavnr.. the pictures are all taken on my stupid cellphone so thats why the first one is so blurry and the rest is kind of crappy to i am hoping to get a better camera soon but until then this will have to do...

and thank you tricome... that was what i was thinking just a small dose to keep them healthy at least for now and then later on i will be cutting down the N bit by bit... until its closer to harvest time and give them nothing but water for the last 2 weeks or so...

so i have one question do you people think its ok to have the clones under the same ligth as the bigger plants? becuz rigth now i dont have space for them anywhere else, the ligth is running 15 hours a day and off 9 hours a day... and will be changed to 14/10 next week, but i am hoping that i will have a new cloning space ready by then they all seem to be looking ok and no problems but im not sure if i should keep them in that ligth or maby its ok to have them under this ligth until i can get a better space for them.... also do you think i should be worryed about the co2? the room im using to grow in has 2 holes in it, one the wall wery low and one on the roof so there is perfect ventilation but i have been thinkin about these 2 things and wondering what to do......

re: From The Land of Ice & Snow - First Grow

I have never seen evidence that gradually going from 18/6 or even 24/0 to 12/12 in steps is of any real benefit vs. just switching from "full-veg" to full flower. Plus, you are still in vegetative growth but are giving up hours of light when you do so.

Main thing with clone light is not blasting them - and those certainly don't look to be too close. As long as you are still in vegetative phase, why not give 18/6 or 24/0 light? The clones won't mind at all and your established plants will reward you with a little bit of extra growth.
