I'm new too but as I'm learning, I believe it has more to do with the spectrum the light gives off. There's usually a little line diagram on the back that tells you. I believe in veg you want 6500k range (blues), then more reds (2700k) during flower. this is just from a few weeks of learning from the lovely peeps on this site. There's also a section in the how room that gives you loads of information. I also read a lot of "what not to do" here that has been invaluable. Again, I'm new so it don't hurt to do your own research on this.

Good luck! You'll also learn a lot reading other people's journals to see what works & doesn't work for others.
And the app is definitely easier to navigate in my opinion. If you start a grow journal people will help with specific questions & issues.
