My First Grow

I am in Turkey. Middle East. Only the local farmers and farm shops have decent-ish stuff around here. The other ones are too expensive and I can't afford it.
I just flushed my flowers pot a few hours ago. Should I give water again with nutrients?
Cool thats interesting, I'm in Canada :ciao:
It would hurt to feed the little duck.
See what's available to you at a decent price.
And we can figure out the best course of action.
In the meantime give her some organic.
Do you have anything to create microbes?
Bokashi, insect frass? Microbe tea?
And your final pot just local top soil?

Stay safe :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hello from Turkey, Canada! :)
Ah yes sorry I forgot to answer your soil question. I bought a soil for flowers (!) I mean that's what it says on the package. It's from a local flower shop. I don't know what is inside it but it wasn't that cheap and guys at the store said that it's a good soil. What kind of soil should I look for? And when will I transplant her again?

Alright then I won't feed her until the soil dries nicely.

And nope, I don't have anything to create microbes but maybe the microbes in my house would be enough for it? =p jk haha.

Use the organic one to start.
Feed it, then let it dry right out.
Then plain water and a good dry.
Then feed.
Keep repeating this until harvest.
Let me know when your ph meter gets in.
We will sort your water out.
See what your putting in 6-7 should be safe with organic.
But your goal will be 6.3 with non organic nutrients.
What do you have access to?
I'm not sure where you are.
You will need a decent veg and separate flower nutrient.
What will you be filling your final pots with?

And thank you for this incredible feeding technique information. Much appreciated!

That soil will probably be fine.
As long as you have something to feed them in the soil. :thumb:
I'll figure out a way to make a tea for you from something natural.
Give me a minute on that.

day 26

my plant grew a little more and I am happy that I started to see growth more than before. Now I am concerned about this leave that looks like it was eaten by something. It had some white spots before though and now it looks different when it grew a little.

Get us a pic of the whole plant and a good shot of the whole leaf-Stat.
In the meantime look under the leaf.
White spots are a sign of pests.
And leaf damage is the result.
Do you have neem oil , h202 and a spray bottle you will probably need these items.
Oh yeah good morning my friend. :ciao:

the leave on the right have that ‘eaten spot’ kinda thing near the end of it. I’m talking about that ‘slit’ kind of looking spot, looks like it was cut. And the white spots are still at the end of the leave. There are no signs if anything else under the leaves or anything else.

this is day 27

I have and frequently use h2o2 to keep the flies and other things away. don’t have neem oil though. have a nice day Bill

Thank you my friend.
If you don't see anything big enough to munch a plant it might not be pests.
That " missing piece " is at the end of a slit as you pointed out.
Given the location it might not actually be an insect.
And the spots seem uniform, generally not what bugs do.
And the over-all color is concerning.
She isn't picking up nitrogen, food or ph issue?
What ph you feeding her at?

I didn’t get my ph meter yet. I’m feeding her drinking water which is said to be around 8.5 ph.

6.3 or she can't eat properly.
What about dip strips for pools.
They are common and cheep.
Would help till the meter arrives.

what should the color be like btw? I did not understand that

Will I lower ph of the water with lemon or something like that?

The ph meter will arrive soon, any day now

Good morning :ciao:
Yes lemon juice will lower it.
But get proper ph down and ph up.
The color is very light green.
She will turn dark green when she starts uptakeing nutrients from the lower ph level.
6.3 so she can eat.

Day 31

Hello everyone, have a beautiful day! Here are some heads up:

I still don’t have my ph meter but I found some strips and they will come in a few days I hope. So I still don’t know the ph. My plant grew a little more but overall I am concerned because of slow growth and this spot that looks like it was eaten still concerns me. I am not sure what it is but it’s been like that since 20 days ago, I hope it’s not anything bad.

Now I am waiting for ph meter and I am saving some cash to buy some decent soil that I have found here. It’s Biobizz All Mix.

Edit: That spot looks like it has melted now.

also if you’re just using regular potting soil keep your eye out for fungus gnats. I always get them when I repot house plants.
hey, thank you for the tip. I had some of those 25 days ago and then I flushed all the plants in the house with h2o2 and gave less water and they have gone away.
I see maybe one of them once a week or two and that’s all. There are no infestations of them that I am aware of. Thank you for your concern, much appreciated!

White spots look like beginning of thirp damage.
Always cook your soil before putting it in your garden.
This is how ^^^
Check under for bugs or eggs.
Little white or long black.
If so get neem oil or insecticidal soap.
