First Grow: Advice Welcome

Hey, question on autos if you can help. I have a new batch that’s 20 days old today. I topped half of em last night. Should I cut off the branches at the lowest two nodes now too? Ever?
I did it in my first round of autos and they seem ok, but I’m not sure if they do better if I leave the leaves!
If you are going to LST the plants I'd remove the bottom 2 nodes. If letting it grow natural there's really no need.

Hey! Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I mixed perlite in to stretch the soil a bit. It might help with aeration/root development too. I’ve been using the FF nutes also, including the powdered flowering ones(well the first two, I’m about to start the third)

yeah, the 7 gallon pots seem a little big to me now. My new ones are in plastic 3.6? Gallon.

I walled off a section of my upstairs. At its height it’s 8 feet, but it slopes to only about 3 feet before you hit a storage area. I also have the bathroom with a door in my area. That’s where I moved the photo plants. I’m planning I. Flipping em soon.

I have two Mars hydro sp6500, one tsl200, one sp150, and one other blurple light.

I topped half of the new autoflowers at 18 days old. Should I remove the lower two nodes now too?

The buds are getting frosty and bigger, I hope they keep growing! The first plants were put in feb 5, so 44 days old. How do they look?

Looks GREAT!
Tip O The HAT!!

Mixing Coco in the soil can be a problem. Sometimes I do it to start seeds in a Solo cup; but straight soil after that. Coco also needs to stay moist all the time so they feed everyday. Soil you feed every couple of days when the soil dries out.
I've heard you can go as high as 6.3 pH with Coco & the minimum pH for soil I think is 6.0 pH. So I would shoot for a pH around 6.2 / 6.3. Things should grow pretty good in that general area. You will probably have to feed more often as you'll get a lot more drainage from the added coco so the soil should dry faster.
I haven't used Fox Farms nutes yet. I plan to try them on my next grow as I'm not thrilled with Mega Crop.
I can say I’m happy with growth so far. I’ve been feeding once per week at max recommended doses using fox farms nutes (the three liquid and three powdered for bloom) and using straight well water once per week also. The perlite/fox farm soil/coco mix holds water well and drains well. Ph is holding at 6.3.
So, I basically soak them twice a week, with water and then with nutes.

Love the colorful pipe cleaners. That’s what I do with mine too. It’s like the girls are playing in a jungle gym or something LOL.

Hey that’s awesome! Can you tell me how the little pots in the big pot work? I grow autos too and am always looking for advise.
Hey! The little pots seem to have worked no problem. I topped 10 of 19 at 18 days since they sprouted between the 4th and 5th node. I’m going to leave some to grow without topping and just use LST as an experiment.

Do you trim at the 1st and 2nd nodes?

I only grow autos so I don’t top them because they don’t have adequate amount of time to bounce back since their life cycles are shorter than the photo periods.

Gotcha...I’m still doing 50/50 till I see how the plants/strains/seeds in growing respond.
Do you cut off the under growth?
Also, should I trim leaves off this plant? It’s 45 days old I think. Buds are getting bigger every day. It stopped growing taller or “stretching “.

I’m also struggling to keep humidity high enough, 30% had been the average. Temp also gets crazy. The 2 Mars hydro sp6500’s put out a lot of light, and some heat. My climate right now has day temps in the 60’s and nights in the 40’s. I’m already struggling with heat. I need better ventilation.
I do have a ductless unit built into my grow area, so I can definitely control the temp.
Gonna have to kick it on and get the ventilation system going. I have two 6 inch carbon filters. Just gotta get a string motor and rig it up!

To be honest with you I’ve kind of picked and trimmed mine the whole time. The jury is still out I think it’s mixed emotions whether to get rid of the fan leaves and open up some of the canopy or not. I trim the undercarriage of mine to keep bugs from wanting to settle near my soil and to decrease my chances of getting mildew in my plant because the air can’t reach the center of it.

We’re experiencing the exact same weather because that’s what I am dealing with here. I have to intermittently run a humidifier in my grow room to keep my humidity between 40 and 45%. I have actually had to purchase a dehumidifier that has not arrived yet because we are also in our rainy season and this drives my humidity above 50% which is too high for my liking because I have got some really fat colas on my plants

My tent runs 45% - 55% RH almost all the way through flower & never had an issue. It's also 81 F in there.
My Flower Room runs 16% - 30% & temps have reached 86 F & low as 68 F with no issues.
As long as I don't get wet spots on my leaves I don't worry about it much.

The 34% you see on the Monitor. I have to leave my tent open completely for a few hours to get it there.

wow, nice setup!

here are a few pics of mine. In my area, we’re getting days in the upper 60’s and nights in the 30’s.
My temps go nuts, 100 to 55. The plants seem ok but I’m taking steps to control it. I moved the inverters(I think that’s what they’re called) off the lights and away from the plants.
Anyway. I also started training the new autos. Some I topped, some I didn’t. Experiment!

Looks like you'll be getting some nice fat buds off the ladies you got there. Things are going quite well for you now.
I'm re-doing my set up in a week or 2. Waiting on my new 10 Bar 800 watt light, Fans & a couple other things to arrive. I'll pretty much have the tent automated after this upgrade. I have a controller that turns fans, humidifiers, AC & Heaters & Co2 off & on at what ever temp & Humidity setting you set it for. After that I'll be installing a Drip System with a 15 gal. Res. so I don't have to feed by hand & just fill a res. once a week. Should be a nice set up when it's done. 2 weeks at best & it'll be up & running.

I hope I get some fat buds! This is my first attempt, so I don’t know what to expect. Kinda went overboard, but I like it.
That new setup sounds cool. I’ve been thinking about integrating co2 once I get everything else situated
