First Official Grow - 2 Mars 700s

Thanks Heirloom! Thanks Nutty! (hey Nutty what's it like living in space? Do they have steak n' shake? lol) Thanks Serpent! I've completed the ppm boiling test and posted results in the other thread. Wrote it up as an experiment with purpose, hypothesis, materials, procedure, etc etc. Had fun and 3 hours flew by no time. I got amazing news today, call back for a 2nd interview at the local warehouse. I could care less where my seeds are right now lol I can justify buying smart pots and more soil now hehehe



Edit- This slipped my mind earlier. I will be running all 7 gal pots from start to finish. Room temperature at night hits 60 and daytime mid 60's(had lights on both times). It's mostly underground and concrete so keeping cool will not be an issue. RH is at 32, upon boiling water for ppm test my kitchen jumped to 46 RH and balanced out at 42 steady. I think I'll pick up a Bunsen burner and whenever the RH dips too low I'll boil a pot of water. Opinions on room temp? The lowest it's dipped at night is 56 and we're quickly approaching spring. Hydro store said I'm good but a space heater is only $18 from Wally world.

WTH is that Heirloom?

That is why I shoot for 86 degrees F (30C) day and night temp.

Each graphed line (circle, square, triangle etc) represents an ambient temp....20C, 25C etc.

Photon Flux Density (PPFD) along the bottom is a measurement of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR). In laymans terms it a measurement of available light photons per square meter, per second.

Along the left column is net photosynthesis, or energy created by the plants, per square meter, per second.

There are two variables in the test. The ambient temp and the PPFD. You can see the sweet spot is 30C and 1500 PPFD.

I won't get into why I want my night time up there too.

At 65F you'll be slowing energy production, and thus growth considerably. I know 'conventional wisdom' says 72-78 or something. But ask them WHY. Because others do it that way isn't good enough for me. Because that's the temp that feels good to us humans is not a viable answer, we are entirely different organisms.

On humidity. Veg I want no more than 60%, preferably 50%. Flowering I like to drop it a bit to 40%.


You ARE planning on shortening up your light hangers and putting them on yo-yo's, right?




PS. If you like the science stuff, read this thread on organic soils. In a month you'll probably realize that the hydro store owner merely sounds smart. I'm always here (and there) to answer questions...

Thanks Heirloom, I will read into it. Still no seeds... They're either lost in the system (I have Amazon Warehouse exp. and it's easy for a jiffy/envelope to fall into machinery and conveyor belt black holes) or seized by customs. Last 24 hours have been tedious I've sanded down my sportsbike for a diy paint job and got an interview tomorrow morning i'll most likely be riding in subfreezing temps... Anyways I'm gonna fall back and focus on my other projects. For the sake of an organized journal my next post will only be when I have seeds. Until then, peace and good vibes.

make your own seeds , it easy , you dont mind dropping one or two , you dont have to order, you can pull the runts with not having to worry , you can eye up your best and then breed them again ,

HOUSTON WE HAVE LIFT OFF!
100% germination rate thanks to Crop King Seeds. Green Crack feminized on top, Purple Kush feminized on bottom. All 5 Green Crack seeds have been potted. Letting the 2 Purple Kush runts grow their taproot a wee bit more. Scrog is in the making. Chains purchased to control light height.

VEG DAY 9
Update! Lighting schedule is 24hrs on. Both bloom and veg switches on. All 10 seedlings are off to a great start. 9 of 10 plants are showing their 2nd set of leaves. The Green Crack have taken off better(pots have green tape). I will be photographing 5 of the plants to track their progress and make a time lapse at the end. First up, Chief Leaf.

Next up Captain Jack Turtle.

Followed by Green Goblin.

Pacquiao Purple (because he's tiny but powerful!)

And best for last, Purple Turtle Kush.

VEG DAY 11
Light feeding of nutes (Hi-Brix Molasses and Voodoo Juice) and I gotta say Green Goblin and Captain Jack Turtle are digging it.

Off to an awesome start!

I will say about the Herbie's order that I ordered right around the same time you did and I didn't even get the package. So I contacted them again and told them and literally 7 days later they showed up and they are now germinating. So I will say this...I like the selection from herbies, but i'm also 2 for 2 from CKS and 100% germination rate but have a smaller selection. So there that is.

Also, the purple kush is a fast and bushy grower. I have 4 going currently and will be going to flower Saturday. Check it out if you want to see what they will look like.

I've been dealing with deformation with this one since day one. Discoloration was much worse then, improving now. Started at the base of the leaf. It was more white than yellow. It didn't look like the light burn on the others.. Is it simply genetics? And no I don't have a ph meter. Give me your 2 cents!

I had one do this to me,

It ended up growing normal once it started a new set of leaves so I wouldn't worry about it but I'm no expert either lol good luck beautiful babies.

Three point leaves are developing beautifully. 5 point leaves have already broken thru and the 7 point leaves have just showed their heads. More pictures to come next week. Just acquired an oscilating fan this morning and picking up a ph pen as well. Also gave another light feeding, this time with AN's grow, micro, and voodoo juice. First up, Green Goblin.

VEG DAY 19
Not much to report on. I've been using a foilar spray of AN Grow + Micro(3mL/L each) and HiBrix Molasses. I took one light out so i could get plant stretch and start the SCROG. These are pre-flowers and bud sites, right???

Got some bud porn for ya filthy animals! I fimmed and topped a couple plants(side branches exploded with growth. If you're unfamiliar read into "auxins"). Also got 5 new babies sprouting!Did a flush with ph'd water (pics below) Enjoy and happy friday!

Time for an update! I will be flipping to 12/12 on April 20th lol gotta pay hommage to the smoke gods... I've transplanted 5 new seedlings into 3 gal pots. I watered this morning with ph'd water, no nutes. I've beed doing a bit of lst and I need to build the scrog. Here's some pictures!
